power to weight ratio on that mazonda OMG lol!!
Did a girl just bring up the concept of power to weight ratio? You need to come out to our meets sometime, you may be able to teach some of our guys something.....
This is what the two mock up downbars looked like at the beginning, the primer went on well and wasn't flaky at all so the process has been proven!
We decided to start from the back and go forward so we put cardboard in the two holes and began to work up to the seat back area. You can already see some of the stripping we did on the top well above.
Here's my esteemed helper:
After we were done with the process, pop picked up the primer while I split off and started to work on the steering column and the pedals. Here some primer action pics:
TING TING (Insert Law and Order sound here). While that was going on, I was trying out Rustoleum Rust Reformer:
Which is supposed to convert rust to a neutralized chemical that is flat black and can be painted over (neat huh?). So here is what the gas/brake pedals, clutch pedals, and steering column look like at first:
The process here is: 1) Scrub with wire brush on a drill, 2) Clean with soap/water, 3) Remove any rubber/small parts, 4) Coat in Rust Reformer. Right then, so here is my wash station:
And here are the results:
This stuff is GREAT, highly reccomended.
TING TING (Insert Law and Order sound here), back to the car, where my dad has been spraying away (and conscequently finished one of the cans of primer). Here are the results!
And that concludes day two of paint prep, next time on our show: More Stripping, More Priming, and uh...maybe we'll pull the motor out. WHO KNOWS! Stay Tuned....
