Visited Jared last night at the shop on the way home from class. He immediately found the high RPM power problem (VTEC engagement issue) and by this morning when I checked my email at work I already had a new calibration file to upload to the AEM...
How's that for service?
The other minor issues we're going to work on this coming week, stay tuned!

Here's some data from the track day. We put a DL-1 data logger in the M2000 for the afternoon on Sunday and came up with some interesting information.
Alex and Rene were driving the M2000, I was in my Miata
Fastest Laps
Alex = 1:45.59
Rene = 1:47.44
Josh = 1:51.80
Maximum Speed
Alex = 109.79 mph
Rene = 110.06 mph
Josh = 100.64
Maximum Lateral Acceleration
Alex = 1.34 g
Rene = 1.44 g
Josh = 1.29 g
And here is a comparison of our fastest laps in graphical form. It's easy to see where the M2000 just walks away from my Miata in each of the straights. The top graph is speed and the bottom graph is lateral acceleration. It doesn't look so good in the thread - click on the image to bring up the S2Ki viewer, and then click on the image in the viewer to show a larger format.
"This has been an absolute pleasure to read. Alex, I can't say how much respect I have for you and your crew. The car is absolutely amazing. I wish I had your talent. Thanks to Mitch for turning me on the the thread. I have friends here in Texas who will be reading as well.
Mitch, can you also give my email to the person who owns the 2nd gen RX7. Maybe he can give me some good info on the car.
Thanks.
Joel"
Rene, he just picked up a convertible rx7, he would like your email to talk about the rx7.
if you don't mind that shoot me a pm with your mail addy
We then made a splitter out of 1/4" Alumacorr. The purpose of this being: to protect the steering rack & mounts, to protect the oil pan, and to provide some downforce in the front to counter the wing.
The splitter/undertray:
Just before the first track day it got painted black and we put a rubber molding on the leading edge to protect it from fraying.
The car goes back to the exhaust shop today for a piping reroute/redesign. The goals are to make it quieter and to gain 1-2" of ground clearance so that I can lower the car a bit.

I will continue to update this thread with our continued progress which has now turned from building to tuning. Some technical notes from the weekend:
1) The tune needs some cleaning up in the 5300-9600rpm area.
2) We found a vacuum leak which will change the tune slightly when plugged so we have some work to do there as well.
3) As expected, -0.8 camber in the front is not enough. We will be redesigning the exhaust to gain more ground clearance and possibly add another resonator or a muffler.
4) Once we gain some ground clearance, I'll lower the car which will help with front camber, front splitter aero, roll center, etc.
5) I need a new oil cap =)
6) The "Gauges" circuit which controls the 3 prosport gauges, the S2000 gauge cluster, and the alternator power feed to the battery apparently needs a larger fuse than 5A, I'll try a 7A.
7) The warning function on the gauges keeps resetting, I have to figure out if they need a constant power feed to retain their memory settings.
8) The starter appears to be bad and is pulling too many amps from the battery. The problem seems to aggravate when the car is hot. A new starter and a starter heat blanket are in order...
That's all I can think of for now but we haven't done a full post track day inspection yet (the car is still on the trailer!).
Guages, I think a 10 amp fuse would work fine. if there is a short the 10amp will still blow
the started issue puzzels me. if the car is running the starter isn't engaged. I am familiar with draw tests and can offer some help here. If you are going to be at Jared's on sat maybe we can stop by your place and take a look
don't mean to bring back a dead thread but, i just wanted to say that your miata is one fine piece of work and i enjoyed reading through the thread about its development. i own a turbo miata and enjoy it throughly.
i was going to pm you some questions about your apr wing, but i guess i need a higher post number or something. (or i couldn't find the option)
your apr wing, i planned on getting one in the future also. did you custom order it ? or did you figure out which universal or car specific one would mount on the outside of the trunk ? I was considering mounting it on the far spaces on the trunk, but mounting on the rear fenders seems alot more stable. in your installation.

Got your PM..
The wing is APR's universal GTC-200, it comes with two mounting positions and I used the outer ones. I also installed their height extenders to gain an additional 2.5".
The front splitter is made out of a sign making material called Alumacorr (or Alumalite). It's 1/4" thick,comes in 4'x8' sheets, and is fairly easy to cut and it's pretty strong for its weight.
Sick ride man! Love that diffuser.. I'm gonna have to copy your style there. When's the next time the car's going to homestead? I'd love to see it in person.

I'm not sure when it's going back to homestead, but I believe their taking it to Sebring soon.
