I am not sure this kid is for real. If he is, I would have to now side with the mom. An automatic Hyundai is more appropriate.
I am being serious, me and my dad have been shopping for used S2000's for a month already. My mom doesn't trust me driving, and she's too scared I will die in a car accident. So she worries alot about me.

She doesn't drive manual, she says it's hard work.

Typical response from the ladies. lol Tell your dad to talk to her, If he's on your side, he can convince her.

My mom doesn't want me to have a manual. I was using the Si as a factor for getting an s2k. From what I've been told the insurance rates are almost identical to the s2k. My dad can teach me how to drive manual, its just my mom doesn't like me driving around period.

Oh yeah my parents are asian...
So you want the S and you don't even know how to drive manual?
I think you should get a beater manual car first practice on that then move on to the S when you can actually afford it yourself or show your mom that your a responsible driver, enough to gain her confidence in you then bug her about it again. But IMO the S isn't really a beginner car.

Like Eric220 said, get your dad to talk to your mom and convincer her (if he can). When you ask him to talk to your mom, also ask him how he'll feel if he convinces your mom to let you get the car and then you get killed in an accident. My wife and I try not to send our daughter the kind of mixed signals you're getting, and I think you're parents need to sort things out between themselves before getting you involved in what is basically their disagreement.

IMO they should simply sort this out themselves and then lay down the law.

An S2000 for a first car in high school just isn't a good idea. I know you don't understand that now, because i didn't when I was in high school, but i still had a 96 civic sedan sideways in canyon roads.

Of course, back then i was immortal.

On the other hand, if you do get it, when you total it, that raises the value of the rest of ours.

I think that's the bottom line why she dosn't want you to get a stick shift.

Basic breakdown of whats happening. My dad encourages me to get the S2000. My mom on the other hand doesn't want me to have a manual sports car. If I'm paying for most of it, how come I can't choose my own car then?
I have argued constantly with her, and she isn't going to agree with me buying a used s2k. I've also told her that the insurance is almost the same as the 08 Si. Any suggestions to help me out?

*sorry for the post being so long*
listen to the woman she might just got a point of all this.
