Default More noob questions.

It seems sometimes when I shift I get a notchy feeling to the shift rather than it being smooth, is this because I'm not rev matching perfectly and the transmission is catching up with the engine speed?

I'm really confused cause I don't remember experincing this any of my other manual cars 90% of the time it shifts smooth like butter, but 10% of the time it clicks in?

Is it mostly going into third gear? That's pretty normal. It should get better as the car warms up. Some people also feel the 1-2 shift being notchy.

I actually took my car in for service to get it checked out. Two different mechanics said it was normal for this car, and that exact feel varies gearbox to gearbox.

Having the shifter connected directly to the tranny is much different from the cable shifters I'd previously driven.

definitely diminishes over time and with a little more warm up time...

some have tried changing MTF to FM Synromesh or even redline product with varied results reported.

at 14K miles on MY04 I still occasionally get the sting in my hand from 2->3rd shift but much more rare than when the car was really new...
