Yeah, my guess is going to be in the $5k ballpark. Why were you issued 3 tickets?
I was thinking more 6-7k.

1. Careless Driving
2. Leaving scene of accident. (It was near the bottom of a hill on a rainy night and I didn't want to get hit by another car. So I moved to an adjacent parking lot)
3. Failure to report accident. (They came within 5 minutes of the incident. And didn't have my phone with me.)
You can get the 3 tickets tossed. If you were accurate in the details, it would be easy to contest them as long as its done properly. You can get an attorney or bone up if you think you can, and represent yourself. Don't worry about what cops do, that comes out in the wash. He was probably filling his quota or making himself feel good.

How would you get the Careless Driving charge thrown out?

Wow. Reading this thread makes me pity you, friend. Don't take the negativity from anybody, you really don't need that kind of crap right now. I would say those tickets are easily fightable, just explain your situation, since hiring a lawyer is quite expensive. I hope you recover over this event, people really don't know how to put themselves in this situation unless they've been it in. Try to get a quote from your shop, they will tell you how much it is with new OEM parts. You can ask for used parts (source them yourself, or they might have a few leads). This will lower the price. You can always hold on getting the bumpers for now, and just get by with what you need.

First step is to look up the offense and how it is defined. Using that criteria, craft a defense accordingly using all the facts: any statements made, hard evidence police have etc. W/O knowing those I would shoot for the "still driving well under speed limit despite inclement conditions, lack of VSA, known, documented S stability problems, bad weather, glare, pothole, etc".

You want to show you were NOT under the influence and despite your best efforts at being cautious, (not speeding-driving like an old man-if you have had a clean record up to that point you can use that to bolster your case) external events beyond your control conspired to cause the car to loose control.

Keep it. Without collision coverage your insurance wont total the car. To be honest, without collision i dont think you have any other option than keeping the car, at least from an insurance standpoint. Now, as far as damage goes, use this forum to find parts and you will be at a much lower cost. The main determining factor is how much of the fix you can do yourself, and if you cant do the paint, how many of the body panels you can get that match. Start pricing the parts, i just fixed a "totaled" 03 for $2500, it needed a new drivers side door, drivers side fender, all new glass, new passengers side tail light and weld and reskin to passengers side fender. I will say this though, that cost is $1500-2500 less than it would have been if id used a body shop to do the repair. Heck, if youre in Cali, ill trade you my fixed S for yours plus some cash on your end Mines a bone stock 03 with 60k miles.

I recently got into a front end collision and mine was not to your extent at all but my frame was bent very slightly by the bumper support. My insurance is covering it for the slight frame damage, fenders, lights, bumper assembly, hood and it was estimated to be 5500 in damage. My airbags did not go off however.

How fast did you hit the wall?

Glad to hear that you are ok. Hopefully, you can get the car fixed.

On another note, wondering what may have caused the rear to kick out like that. I'm guessing your tires were pretty bald.

there's two full rolling ap1's in my area in okc. a nfr 02 w/ 130k on it for $4500 and a spa 03 w/ 35k on it for $7k. your best off to buy a roller and transfer your drivetrain to it and part the rest

I would say that the biggest determining factor would be the air bags rather than body panels.
