MY 2001 with 1st-2nd grinds, post experience here.
The problem was fixed with the 2001 model...period. If you grind a gear it's you (unless your clutch isn't adjusted). My most infamous shift was reverse grind from 5th to 6th.....my fault. Look at the service bulletin specifics and you will see the problem was one of engineering and it no longer exist. Notice lots of "new" car owners with this problem....see any trends?

same thing is goin on with me 1-2 very light grind at around 4500 rpm not loud just a slight grind and a tinc from second to 3rd totally feel it at low rpm shifts around 4000 but with everyone talking about this problem i guess its just cause the car is new and the engine is still being broken in the grinding im hopeing will go away after 1000 or so miles only got 620 on mine right now and havnt really vtec'd at all so hopefully itll go away but the tinc from second to third is bugging me it seems like a faulty syncro and my uncle who drives a porshe told me that if its still there after 3000 i should get it inspected and you all should prolly too.
Just a word to the wise....
before having your NEW car torn apart, remember we have 3 year 36k warranties.
Your tranny is not going to fail, but if youre concerned it might, atleast put some good hard miles on it first. Learn the car, my s2k was a little notchy at first, but having owned a mitsu eclipse gsx, the s2k is silky smooth.
Another suggestion, which some will laugh at, is the angle of shift. Your seating position as well as the angle at which you pull the shifter can and will cause a minor misalignment of the gears and syncros as they mesh. remember, the tolorances are milimeters and you are preloading the gears as you shift
last suggestion, my eclipse tranny sucked, all 7 of them and yes I have proof, however, at the dealers suggeation we used GM syncromesh tranny fluid and x19 additive and some of the bad traits of the tranny lessened.
Again, we have a 3 yr warranty dont tare your NEW car apart

Utah,
Is this the (non adjusted) clutch TSB that you speak of? I can tell you that my clutch sounds like a bucket of bolts at lower rpms. I dont know if it relates at all to the 1-2 gear grind, but I would rather live with it for now than be without the car. I guess Ill just continue to shift carefully from 1-2.
