plan of action:

+find out what the VA law says about aftermarket exhaust and sound limits for cars...to do this go to your state motor vehicle web site or call

+Best Motoring, VTEC Club, 2004, has sound clips of all the various s2000 exhausts with decibal readings. You can then get the reading for your exhaust and also stock to compare and see if you are within the limits. this is available on netflix

+ also if you purchased the car used and you fail under the first two tests then claim you had no knowledge of the car having an aftermarket exhaust ...this is as long as you didn't divulge this info to the officer

Under this option you will probably only get a fix it ticket and be required to show proof that the exhaust has been modified or changed to meet state requirements.

Can't you contest the ticket? Did the officer use a db meter to determine if you exhaust is too loud? There has to be an official determination of how loud is legal? Do you fall below this?

I know the laws in my state, so I can't offer you advice for yours, but an officer shooting from the hip to decide what's legal and not legal without technical testing seems like it won't hold up in court.

It's like an officer telling you were doing 83 in a 65 just based on his opionion without a radar or anything.

He was checking to see if you straight piped your Catalytic converter out or left it in. Removing the Cat=BIG fines. I have heard of it being close to 2k in places.

In Va it's not worth it to fight for something like this. Speeding is another issue. You waste the whole day sitting in court, on top of that you pay $67 court fee.

This is given that you win in court. Say the judge doesn't like you, you pay for the ticket, whatever fee, AND court fee...humm...think about that one...oh and you've wasted half a day of work.

1) If i get pulled over again for the same violation, will they suspend my license? ( i know it varies from state 2 state)

A. Dunno

2.) If you have Invidia have you been pulled over before with the silencer on it?

A. Silencers should reduce the risk, you just have to be on the look out and low rev the car around cops (sux I know)

3.) Who wants to trade their stock exhaust ?

A. I have a stock exhaust ready to ship if you are serious about trading I will pay for shipping

What really pisses me off about getting pulled over for a too loud exhaust is that they generally ignore Harleys that friggin shake my house when they go by. I never get bothered, too old but they hassle my 2 boys WRX and GSX Turbo all the time.
