Before you panic too much, you may need a simple valve adjustment.

Rasputin did this and recovered lots of lost horsepower (15 ponies if I remember correctly).

"Stock" meant stock setup, no modifications. SteveUCI at the previous dyno at the same place gained several more max hp resulting in the low 190s after replacing his dirty stock air filter with a JR. I don't know how much he would have gained with a clean Honda air filter .

That dyno session and another, imo, demonstrated increased midrange torque with my Mugen header equipped S2000. Expensive gain with less weight in wallet and car; I do not regret getting the header, but for those leaving it stock, yes, this is still one quick vehicle kept stock.

Yes, stock S2000s are capable of registering higher dyno numbers, but a 330ci could be out of tune as well and also lose precious ponies. Make sure your S2000 has been gone over and tuned. Might even check compression to see if indeed it is a more major problem.

Cal, my car (193 peak) was stock. Steve's car was probably close to this - when they changed out just the air filter, the car made 5 more HP - same car, same dyno, same day.

Mike, did you notice the top end go away when you installed the CAI? Again, my car, stock, went 14.1 @99, and that was with a 2.25 60 foot time. If I had your 60 foot I would've been in the 13's. Don't know what to suggest other than switching back to the stock parts, or maybe taking your intake apart to see if everything's installed right.

Ryan, do you know which filter Steve was using? I think you said it was the JR - I'll try to get one quick.

Right now my tentative plan is to dyno this coming Friday afternoon - I don't actually have the exhaust yet but have been assured I'll have it this week (week 10 since I ordered it).

One thing that's bugging me - someone mentioned is that the CA S2K's seem to dyno lower than those elsewhere. I wonder what sort of an effect our 91 octane is having? We ought to test the dyno results of 91 octane vs. 100 to see how much HP we're potentially losing. Maybe I'll get a 5 gallon jug of it for my testing...

Jason, it's my understanding (heard at Sears Point, I believe) that you need to run a tank or two of 100-octane before it makes any difference. So a 5-gal jug ain't gonna do much good.

You guys are right about the ECU's learning curve - does anybody have any experience with this firsthand? Like how much time it really needs to adapt to the fuel, and any tricks to speeding that process up, maybe an ECU reset?

The ECU does not learn at WOT, only non-WOT. At WOT it's all about reading the inputs (MAP, etc) and responding as programmed...not learned.

also we should keep in mind some performace mods aren't suppose to simply add hp.. just change the way your orignal power is delivered.. look at the torque and horsepower "curves" before and after...
