Looking at this chart, I would think that there was something wrong with your car. Your car should not have that dip in power at 6300 rpms. It should be a smooth arc all the way to redline. I personally felt my s2000 was running weak, but I topped off the oil (1/2 quart low), and reset the comptuer, and it seemed to make a world of difference. Can you feel this dip in power when driving? If so, put the stock air filter back on, reset the comptuer and change the oil. Try to see if the power dip is still there. Your car may be running too lean or rich in the upper RPMs and the computer is not correcting for it. But looking at these power curves as well, it looks like a problem that you WILL be able to sort out. Maybe you have a floating valve... Don't know, just get it looked at..

Overlay the line to that of another S2000 on the same Dyno. If your power loss is only at the higher RPM's then it is most like a problem with the air filter/intake.

I beg to differ. 93 is maybe just a little on the low side, but it's still pretty standard. If you can get to 95 MPH, your car is strong for a stock.

I would disagree as even magazines are getting 98-100 mph as a standard 1/4 mile MPH. I would say sub 95mph is less than average.

We're not all professional drivers, especially with such a hard-launch car like S2000. With all the respect, at least 90% of the people on this broad will not be able to consistently get a stock S2000 to 97 MPH at the end of the 1/4 mile (It's 90% car, 10% driver, BTW). 95 MPH is strong. 94 is not bad and I'd say more than 50% falls in this range. 93's a little low, but still within reason.

Ryan,

Why does the dyno you go to seem to get lower numbers for the S2K. I thought everyone here was pretty much in the 190+ HP region. The synos I've seen of Steve and DJ are the only ones where the power has been in the 180's.

Guess we'll have to get the S2K only dyno days going.

Don't forget to either clean your air filter (foam style) or put in a new one (stock style). Doesn't take much restriction to hurt your top end. I know some racers who keep their "race" filter in a zip-lock bag until the actual race. Seems a bit much to me but the theory is sound.
