Yes, the curves are very important, there is too much concentration on peak numbers. Unfortunately with searches limited I cannot find the charts I was looking for but it appears that at least two cars with the AEM or Injen CAI have traits in common.. besides a low rpm bump there is a sag at 6500 and a flattening at 7500. Not desirable but need to see others.

Cal,

Steve made "x" amount, we dropped in the JR filter (see Mingster), and then he made an extra 5 ponies.

With all the different dyno results on stock S motors and with only 250 miles on my S, I guess she's just like a child. I'll just have to wait until she grows up to find out how she turns out !

That is a strange shape dyno chart as well isn't it. If you look at the ones in tagheuer's post, whilst there is a slight blip at 6.5k revs, nothing like as noticeable as in DJHohum's....

Got it, Ryan, thanks.

I didn't mention that I have Denso Iridium IK22 plugs, although I've heard that they don't make that much difference performance-wise.

Found an excellent old thread comparing stock vs. AEM and Injen CAIs on a car also equipped with a Spoon header and exhaust:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=32058

They made excellent gains with both CAIs, which contrasts sharply with what we saw yesterday. Who knows whether the key was having the front bumper removed, the freer-flowing exhaust, or both. I guess that's why there are such things as dragstrips; it's the only way to find out if the part really works or not.

Also of interest in this thread is Ultimate Lurker's summary of the ECU's learning tendencies, towards the bottom. Apparently what the ECU learns in closed-loop, part-throttle operations (the short-term trim) does, over time, affect the long-term trim, which is the basis the ECU uses to operate with while at WOT.

I'll still try some 100 octane in it anyway, and see if it does anything before and after an ECU reset. There's been lots of conjecture but no hard #s that I've seen as of yet.
