Default My shiftknob came loose while driving, can you help?

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. My shiftknob came loose on a 5:00 am ride this morning. It began to rattle around. I turned it counterclockwise and it seemed to tighten.

Can anyone tell me how to secure it so this doesn't happen again?
