Nice write ups btw.

Eh, its a good band for the buck and nothing else. Any car with a turbo has potential.
Reading that article really makes me want a lotus =(.

It's obvious those that did the review on the S2000 know very little about the car
and were basically using S2000 literature as fodder for their review. The car's
tires, while 17-inches are NOT larger in diameter. . The stagger
between the front tires has been INCREASED and thus the massaging of the
oversteer wasn't because they went to a slightly wider front tire, rather the
stagger between the fronts and rears is now over TWO-INCHES!
Dumbasses. Even when they're trying to compliment the car, they can't get
it right. "Dogs pawed their ears when the original S2000 tickled its 9000-rpm redline."
They did? Good grief, at 8800 rpm's, it's as close to automotive nirvana as you can get on this
side of a $175,000 sportscar.
To continue, the goober writes, "Compared with the original's harsh soprano, the new engine sings sweet contralto."
As the second comment in one paragraph regarding the tone of the 00-03 S2000 at WOT, it's
obvious this clown probably brings Mickey Mouse ears to his kid's cart races.
" Yank the steering wheel, and the chassis holds a secure neutral line, thanks to a more rigid body structure and wider Bridgestone Potenza radials."
Someone should tell him the SO-2's are actually 245's.
"Upsizing front-tire section width one notch and rear rubber two notches while adding an inch to the rim diameter was the ideal prescription for curing oversteer."
WRONG. Tire section width is not measured by the width of the tire, rather the actual tread that
makes it to the road, otherwise, the top part of the tire would have the same width as that coming
into contact with the road. This sounds EXACTLY like a review that was culled more from
reading Honda's PR release of info rather than doing any actual research on the changes.
" The new S2000 also keeps its cool when its tires are assigned double duty. You can brake and turn, accelerate and turn, or tighten the arc a bit at the limit of adhesion without provoking ill temper."
WTF? Is this to imply you CANNOT do so with the 00-03 models?
I might be nitpicking but as an owner of the car, I believe I have plenty of reason to. Too many
automotive fish wraps (as Automobile magazine has become....sad for a once fine magazine)
spend too much time quoting brochure specs and not enough time to properly report on HOW
or WHY the changes affected the car the way it does.
Hard to find anything in that linked article that didn't give me the impression it
was written in an office, not culled from actual interviews, experience or track time.
Either that, or it appears Honda has found the ideal buyer for the target segment they were aiming for with the '04 in the first place. It appears the earlier versions
contained too much lead for his pencil.
