Mysterious Dash button marking
Well since this thread is brought up for the dead. Topic change.
What are the mysteries of the s2k? Part of the fun of owning the s2k is finding the mysteries you had no clue about, such as the secret compartment.
Post the random things you have found on the s2k.
Just yesterday I found out that pressing the "Ch" button near the volume control on the left of the steering wheel changes to the next track on a cd.

Seriously...I'd rather see someone searching, finding an old thread and then asking a clarifying question than someone starting a new thread asking what the little button on the dash does again. At least I can see the new guy is searching.
And he didn't try to answer the OP's original question...like I've seen some others do in the recent past with ancient threads.
Kaneda215...give it a shot and see what happens. You won't break anything. If memory serves, the dash lights will re-dim if you turn the lights off and then back on.

I say "almost". Here's the deal:
There is a default setting for brightness in two modes, day and night. Day is bright, night is dimmer. The selection is done by whether the lights are on or not.
Pressing plus for about three seconds switches the dash to day mode for as long as the lights stay on. Turn them off and back on again, and the car drops back into night mode.
BUT, each of the two modes is also adjustible. When the car is in the appropriate mode, you can press plus or minus repeatedly to brighten or darken the display. This is memorized.
So when you turn the lights on, if you push the plus button many times (not holding it down) you can adjust the night mode up to the brightness of the day mode. In that case it will stay bright all the time until you readjust it (or reset the ECU). OR, you can just press and hold the plus button until the panel jumps into day mode. This is not memorized, and reverts back to night mode the next time you turn on the lights again.
^^
When I performed the tasks that I suggested in my earlier post(hold down the + button for several seconds(3 or so) until the tach lights up brightly), It kept the setting in the memory...everytime I turn the lights on...The tach automatically goes to full brightness, which is the setting I set it on by holding the "+" button down for several seconds.
I never said "press" once...I've always said "hold"!!!
