New car dip stick check
I know it is important to keep an eye on the oil level in the powerplant of the S2000 as you break it in. I was curious to know what you long term owners found as your car transitioned from "new" to "not so new"? I have read here that some cars consume more oil than others, but is there a "normal" in terms of oil consumption? I imagine that "right foot enthusiasm" plays a major role in this issue. What was your experience, and was there a point in the break-in that your car quit showing oil loss? Thanks
The AP2s are known for using less oil.
Honda refined the method in making the AP2 motor. When a head is bolted to a block, it deforms the block slightly, making the cylinders warp a little. Oil can escape by the rings as a result.
On the AP2, honda torques a dummy head to the block and then hones the cylinders. The result is that the cylinders are a more perfect circle when there is actually a head torqued to the car. As a result, less oil gets by the rings!
