And you can't say he didn't PLUS he wouldn't tell us if he did! Who knows what the car went through the first few miles he had it. In either case, it would give him the greatest excuse in the world to put his BMW up on a pedistal and slam dunk the S2000 into the cellar.

Here is a formula that perhaps will illustrate your problem.

I sure am glad I have an 03 with the 4 hole banjo bolts.

Miles = 1600
Consumed 3/4 quart of oil in that period. Oil still looks somewhat clean. Still breaking in and getting faster.

Since you are in such a jolly math mood, try dividing 35 engine failures by 40,000+ total S2000 car sales and tell me what kind of miniscule engine failure rate you come up with?

but engine failure due to mechanical defect is still wrong...regardless if it's one or all of them...also what's to say there wont be more of these types of problems when the s2000 starts making it's way up to 100+k miles.

Also...because you are such a good math student you should know that not all 40,000 s2000 owners are on this board. only the ones on this board are the ones you can compare and based by my numbers about 18000 people are registered on the boards and some of those are not even owners, and some have sold their s2000's and gone on to other cars. Still the number is small but regardless, you have to take a proper frame when doing such calculations....spinning the truth doesn't always work.

also when you have a chance...do a search on this boards for "blown engine" you'll be suprised how many hits come up. I've taken the liberity of doing it for you...658 threads

http://search.s2ki.com/search.php?q=blown+...20&m=all&wm=wrd

I've also done one for bimmerforums.com and came up with 271

have a nice day!

Before it is time for your 2 oclock medication, could you enlighten us as to how you come up with the notion that the Honda Civic Si engine is a racing, race bred, race equivalent, or any other kind of relationship to racing type of engine?

The Honda Civic Si is a joke inside and outside of the industry, it is an embarrasment to Honda, which can not even dump them at below cost.

In any event, the Si engine is to a racing engine what you are to accepting responsibility.

By the way, am I to understand you to believe that every hit on some web site represents an engine failure?

I'm not taking any sides here...but I can tell you not checking your oil every 300 miles in NOT abuse. Why should I have to check it every 300 miles? I get the oil changed every 3000 miles, maybe 2500 if I've been driving it hard....but never check it every 300. If you want to...that's fine...but don't pin this on him for not doing so. That's ridiculous to say the oil starvation was his fault for not checking it so often. If his S2000 ate up oil a lot faster than that, then that's Honda's problem. I love my S2000, but I can't argue with him about their service....overall...it's just plain bad.

Downshifting is not nessecarily for power purposes...how do you know I didn't downshift to drop my speed because I figured my breaks couldn't do the job fast enough...

OK, now the brakes on the S are no good either? Or were you simply traveling at a speed that was excessive for the conditions? Either way you are loosing credibility. However amusing.

sjsharks...I'm glad you caught on to my sarcasim...

Red Blur...thanks you for your input...you're right...checking your oil every 300 miles is good...but not required, and saying that I'm a irresponisible car owner for not doing so is hilarious

Joser...well you must live in a town called perfect, cuz apparently you've never been cut off on the freeway...cuz if you had been you'd know that slamming on your brakes at 70 mph will cause the car to lose stability and maybe crash...but if you properly know how to downshift the vehicle...by matching revs your car will not only slow down but will also not cause the wheels to spin...cuz no matter how highly you think of your car, you need to have MANY mods to have the wheels spin in 4th gear. The torque beast of the s2k alone is not enough for that kind of power...nor many cars on the market today...if I were you...i'd stop trying to win a battle you can't...cuz in acuality are the one who is losing credibility....thank you and have a nice day

Now the resident genius believes the S2000 is a "torque beast".

It never ends.
