New MY04 - Gears Grinding?
Road Rage you are missing my point.
I am saying it is carbon fiber but not the type you see on CF hoods.
If you see the pic on the inner ring is different from carbon fiber weaves.
Just a different type of carbon fiber.

I am just trying to let people know there is different type and density of cf out there.
Because most people think CF as in the type on the wings and hoods.
I believe that the syncros are bonded with something else, but I am not a true chemist.

Okay, Boys and Girls,
Here's the skinny: I bought my '04 S2000 three weeks ago. After driving in everything from rush hour traffic to "I'm an idiot 'cause the road is open and so is the throttle" I was experiencing (Surprise!!) grinding when shifting from 1 -2, 2- 3 and sometimes 3 - 4, until it was warmed up.
Took it to the shop and didn't take "no" for an answer. The shop foreman, a 60-year old German mechanic, drove it around (gently) for a while - slowly pulling out of one gear and smoothly settling into the next. I told him "I don't even need a clutch to drive that way. It shouldn't grind between gears".
So he drove it "right" and, lo and behold, had grinding between gears. We took it back to the shop, and the customer service guy started writing up another tag for the repair.
The foreman returned before the paperwork was done, and reluctantly handed me a photocopy of what seems to be a monthly/quarterly dealer update. It reads (as best I can type):
Grinding at Upshifts When Cold: '00-04 S2000
When the M/T and the MTF are cold in a '00-04 S2000, expect some grinding or a notchy feeling when you're shifting from 1st to 2nd gear or from 2nd to 3rd gear. There's nothing wrong with the M/T; it's just something common to all S2000s.
I forward this without comment. Feedback from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
Dave.
