Noisy on cold start

Thank you all so much. What I didn't want to hear and have not heard is something to the effect "sounds like your oil pump is going south and you really need to take care of that immediately".

As I used to say when I leaned into the racecar to shake the driver's hand before he headed out on the track, "Be safe, have fun."

I have two votes for sticky starters and two for piston slap, which is consistent with what I am hearing, and nothing of impending disaster. That's all I was looking for. I won't ask anymore questions. Thank you all for your input. Enjoy your forum.

By odd I mean you never provided any sort of description of he noise at all .Piston slap sounds nothing like starter grind at all. Not even in the same universe of sounds lol. But hey, if you say you got what you needed then that is cool I guess. We are only asking more questions to try and be helpful. Normally if someone says they hear a noise, the describe said noise and then people can provide more help.
