So, last night after work I took my annual trip to the Autoshow. . . Stopped by the Honda display (hoping to see an S2K with the hardtop installed), not Anyway, I told the Honda representative that I purchased my S2K earlier this year, and that I'm interested in the hardtop. . .
His response:
"I was told that there is a hardtop available, but not through any dealers. . . Its only available via aftermarket dealers, and is not an official Honda product. . ."
My first thought was. . . WTF!!! I know its available at dealers, everyone on this board knows its available at dealers, and that IT IS an official Honda OEM product. . .
The point of this thread. . . How can Honda have representatives that not only don't know their product, but (even more importantly) give misinformation as well. . .
Bad Business. . .

In my experience, you will not find many salesmen that know a lot about the S2000. I was told that the body was made out of aluminum and they had no clue how to open the fuel door or anything about the 'secret compartment'.

The sad truth is that many times these representatives are not official company employees. Many companies hire marketing consultants to attend shows... I don't know if they still do this, but I have heard that it used to be the case.

Baggs point(s) still holds true -- maybe not for all of the manufactures, but for many. I actually flew to NYC on the shuttle last Sat for the day to attend the show -- great show, but I was definitely disappointed about the lack of knowledge. This was the case for many of the manufactures -- the poor girl at the Jag booth -- I was trying to learn more about the X-type and she knew very little to nothing -- I did apologize.
The bottom line -- the shows are good to go and look and sit in the cars -- I tend to not use them as a source of information.
My two cents...
