Hello, Im new to this forum obviously. I found a 2004 s2000 with 26k miles for sale that I want to buy. I was just wondering if you guys would be kind enough to tell me what I need to look out for. All I know so far is to make sure the Top is in good condition. Thanks a lot guys.

Take it to a mechanic for a secondary inspection. Make sure the tranny shifts nicely and that mechanically it is sound. Look for wear marks on the soft top near the passenger/driver side rear. Also check for tire tread depth and make sure they are at least OEM or better.

check the area around the body bolts to see for missing paint. that way you can see if the car has had any body work done.

check the obvious used car stuff...

for s2000 specific,
make sure the hood, fenders, trunk all have the same VIN as the car.

best you can do to help us help you is post some pics up of the car.

and even better, take it to a trusted mechanic

Wow, talk about low mileage. Should be in good shape unless they beat the hell out of it. Test driving it is the first thing after either inspecting it yourself or taking it to someone you trust. If you can find an S2k owner in your area from this board, you might have someone to help you out.

You could also ask around in the region specific forum for where you live and see if any s2k owners would be willing to look at the car with you.

thanks for ur guys opinions. The guy decided not to sell and is keeping the car. I just found out my loan expires on Feb 23, 2010 due to an error in the system =) so i have more time to look and wont feel rushed.

Does anyone know of any "trust worthy" mechanic shops in San Antonio, TX?
