I want to get feedback on a car I have worked out a deal on. It is a 2003 gpw with under 12,000 miles and tan interior. Pretty much new inside out with 1 owner. OEM hardtop, hoist and stand, aftermarket stereo system and alarm, car cover, and oem wing. No aftermarket parts and new tires.

Also would like to hear if I did ok on selling my current s2000. It is a 3 owner 2000 silverstone with 63,000 miles. All stock except for aftermarket head unit. Typical rock chips in the front and a scrape on the bottom of the front bumper. I have found a buyer at $13,000.

Thanks

The 03... I think 20 grand.

Price on the 00 seems just right.

Greetings all,

I am looking at a 2008 RYP S in Denver w/ 18K. I live in FL, so I can't see it in person. The exterior looks mint, however, when I asked the dealer for more interior pictures...I was surprised to see that the up-close shot of the seats looked a little too worn for a car with only 18K AND there was no red stitching on the seams. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all 08/09's come with red stitching on the seams?

The CARFAX is clean and it was a one owner vehicle bought by this dealership at auction. Here's a link to the car: http://www.automotive-imports.com/we...orado/8983213/

I have more pictures on my computer of the interior that they sent me that give you a better view of the seats...but I am having trouble uploading them to the site! I already searched "how to upload pictures" but the directions given still aren't helping. I can only upload URL images from websites and not photos from my computer. Any suggestions?

I've started working a deal, but I am not opposed to looking elsewhere. Thoughts?

Use imageshack or some other photo hosting service (they're free) to host/upload, then just link the URL's here.

You might try posting in the Colorado section of S2KCA ( http://forums.s2kca.com/forumdisplay...e-High-Chapter ) to see if anybody knows the history on this car, or if somebody lives close by and would be willing to go check it out for you. I live in the Denver metro but I'm 30 miles or so from this car.

From what I can see of the side bolsters, they don't look too bad, a lot better than mine did when I bought it at 42K. With that said, the hard top does force you to slide in more often than a soft-top (being down, step in and sit down) would.

Good luck!

Thanks for the imageshack idea. My biggest concern is the fact that it is an '08 and the seats don't have the red stitching? Also, when you see the seats up close, they do look dry and discolored for only having 18K on the car.

Im looking at a 2001 red ap1 with black interior. It has 87,xxx miles. It only has 1 owner. the paint on the outside is in rough shape, there is not dents but minor scratches. I know I can compound the scratches as that is what I do for a living. It has a clean title with 14 service records on file. The used dealer is asking 13,000 for it. Is if worth haggling for? Its really nice except for the paint

A year ago May I purchased sight unseen an 09 Rio Yellow with 31K from a dealer in Phoenix. Just like you, research indicated one owner (actually purchased down the street at the Honda Dealer so I knew all the maintenance records) The dealer had pretty good pictures; they had tried to sell on ebay but it never sold as the reserve was never met. I contacted them and began to haggle/gather more info. I got them to come down considerably on the reserve to a realistic value, (IMO). It took two weeks for me to fly down (I live near Sacramento) inspect it and take 2 great days and drive it back. If I had found a fatal flaw, the deal would have been off and the dealer knew it. BTW, I paid $27.7K.

I was unaware of the red stitching until I saw it person and I wondered if the seats had been replaced! Never saw it in the pictures. Spent some time going over it looking for the usual suspects: paint flaws, overspray, non painted bolts, missing VIN stickers etc. Had looked pretty closely at the 'stickies' on how to buy at this and other forums. I am 57 and no stranger to cars. This car was in great shape. No teenager ever touched it. The one owner had to sell as he had cardiac issues ( I found his medical write ups in the secret compartment) It was in terrific shape, just like a new car and bone stock. Records indicate 38 Rio Yellow 09s were sold in the US.

In some pics my seats looked like yours. I conditioned them with some good stuff and they are better. There was some wear to the drivers bolster and I found the way I was entering the car was making it worse. I changed how I got in (sit sideways first and then rotate feet in) and I notice I do not contact the bolster the way I did before sitting straight down.

If you have checked all the VIN reports and the price is right BUY IT!!! I am so glad I did. Even though I paid full value, it is worth every penny. All I can think of, if the seats turn out to have been replaced, if they were stolen and perhaps the top was damaged in the process and it replaced as well. It does not look like that from the pictures but if indeed the seats are not original, that could be something. The pics indicate normal seats and top to me. My car looked better in person. Good luck. Hope it works out for you. Let me know what you paid ( I know you will get it)

I sent an email asking to confirm the stitching on the seats. Maybe the lighting in the pictures is making the color look off?

Right now they will not go any lower than 28K. It comes with the hardtop, front lip and spoiler, which is a big reason I like this car, plus the low miles. I figure that adds some value to the car, but is 28K too high or do you think that's a fair deal assuming the seats check out?

Thanks for the help guys!

Buy it. You will regret it forever if you don't. Its a terrific color (really grows on you-even my wife loves it now) its low miles and has everything. There is not much more out there in the market. The only small thing I spotted was the removal of the S2000 badges on the fenders but that is so easy to replace. Buy the damn thing and enjoy the hell out of it. IMO don't make a thousand bucks a deal breaker on something you are going to enjoy for years. Holy cow, it comes with a hard top. Even better if it is OEM!!! Buy it!!
If I did not have mine now I would have beat you to it at this point.

I didn't even catch the side badges missing! I love the color...it's my second favorite after ABP, but those CR's are very tough to find.

I've been looking for the right car for about 8 months now, so I'm in no hurry if something doesn't feel right. I was looking at the gap line on the hood and the left front side (where the bumper joins the fender) and it is off from the right side. I think I am going crazy looking too hard at this car I also noticed a lot of rusty bolts here and there which makes me wonder if it was stored outside (the CARFAX says it came from NY).

IDK? I just have a weird feeling about this car for some reason I've got a buddy that lives in Denver who's going to check it out in person, so we shall see, but I might let this one go and hold out for my ABP CR
