How does this sound for a CA car?

2005 GPW with tan interior. 91k miles. Car has VIN numbers on all body panels, appears to be stock, except for signs of a sub woofer (bunch of wires/cables in trunk). Body looks really clean except for big issue noted below. Interior seems fine, a little more wear on the steering wheel than I would like. Also a bit dirty, would need a good detail.

Top has some tears/cuts that have been repaired. Top latches have broken buttons, but it still works. Electric cigarette lighter is loose. Small (nickel sized) dent/depression on top part of car behind passenger/in front of trunk. Biggest issue is passenger door has been keyed, its not just a scratch if you look at it from an angle it look's like there might be a shallow V impression into the body panel. It's a vertical scratch that run's almost the entire height of the door (how much would something like that cost to fix?)

Also the two bolt's that hold the shield over the exhaust(?) manifold appear to have some corrosion on it, is that a sign of possible rust in other locations?

Asking $16k.

Thanks!

"New" old member, used to be sox2112 but I don't have my old email address anymore. Anyway, I'm looking at a few S2000's. Let me know what you all think about these 2.

2006 Berlina Black

2003 Berlina Black

Carfax for the 2003 appears to show it was dealer maintained in some regard.

2004 S2000 for 19,000$

51k miles

Clean CarFacts

Pretty clean over-all.

Convertible Top does not seem to leak.

Rims are rashed up a bit though.

Here is a 2000 S 2000

Have not seen it yet...

It has 51k miles as well.

I have read there a Pros/Cons for both the AP1 and AP2.

Thoughts?

Personally, I would pass at that price.

Thanks jkelley, there are other issues with the car which is making me rethink it. In the meantime, more wildness from CA: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/4101818924.html

$14.3k for an 01 with 83k miles, needing a new top and you are FIRM on the price? Sigh.

Maybe someone else can comment on cali cars (as I know there is a difference on the used market) but if I remember correctly they were generally about the same price as the average of the rest of the country, right (contrary to popular belief)? I thought this was due to having many MORE of them available out there, yet a higher cost of living etc which essentially balanced the prices out for this type of car?

Just to put it in perspective, I bought my most recent 05 GPW on tan w/ 65k miles 2 months ago in excellent condition out of Greenville, SC for $17k private party and I paid too much for my area. But I had a hard on for the GPW/tan combo

So I have been searching for a perfect ap2 berlina for well over half a year now and I think I might have just found one. But It's a bit over what I would want to spend on my s2000. Basically I would like to know what previous and current owners think about it. Is it a good deal and what would be a fair offer?

Service records from the dealership?

You verified all body panels have matching VIN tags? No previous accidents?

Original owner?

The fact that its modified makes me like it less but maybe that's appealing to you. I wouldn't pay more than $18 if all the above were true

2004, Silverstone/black interior. 98k miles, all stock, 2 owners. Haven't went to inspect but put down refundable hold deposit. Car is scratch/dent free and has no tears in the top. Asking 14.5k. Worth 13k if I can talk down for minor inconveniences like no maintenance records, etc? I understand that AP2s don't burn oil is the only reason I'm considering it for a new DD...
