The paint needs a day of work. And I'm always a little leery of dealers that don't offer a vehicle history report. But if that car has all its original panels its a decent deal.

Do you figure just needs a good wash and wax? I am pretty cautious as well that there is no report offered but i suppose a through physical inspection should reveal any major issues.

The paint probably looks better in the pics than it does up close, and I don't think it looks very good in the pics. But it's fixable. It looks "ashy", the reflections are poor, you can see years of swirls in some of the pics. For me to be happy I'd need to wash it, clay it, do 2 stages of polishing followed by sealant/waxing.

This car looks in pretty good condition however the price seems a 1-2k high. Anybody else have input?

Thanks

That car should go for 18.5-19k. It's super clean, low miles, and best/ last year for the AP1.

I agree. I spent a TON of time looking across the midwest over the past few months before finally making a purchase a few weeks ago. Based on what I found, 2003's (vs other AP1's) and Black - contribute to a higher than avg prices. I got a silverstone but would have preferred black - and probably would have been willing to spend 500-1000 more for one in perfect condition. I'm guessing I'm not alone on the color preference.

For ref if it helps, I paid slightly under $15k for a mint 01' with about the same miles. This was a great deal based on other options at the time. I saw a few others in similar condition for 2-3k more.

Maybe a little high... but what can you argue about ? It has all the elements - one owner, clearly babied, super low miles, no mechanical mods. And look how clean that garage is... thats a guy I want to buy a car from.

Hi everyone,

this is my first post. while innocently surfing used car posts i ran across a 2003 suzuka blue AP1 with 140k miles. heres the deal:
- 1 owner, sitting at a "high end" small dealership (have everything from an altima to a ferrari on the lot)
- top has two patched rips
- interior and paint in very good condition (in pictures)

the big one:
- being sold "as is", car stalls when coming to a stop when it is warm and "they don't know whats wrong"

the asking price is $8500.

i build/work on my own cars, and this would be a 3rd car for me/track day and/or auto x car that my dad can drive. my assumption is that the stalling is the typical IAC/TPS/Map sensor issue, and shouldn't cost me more than $300 to fix.

personally i think there is no way they paid out more than $7k for this car, and i dont think id feel bad offering $6000 to start and probably not buying it for more than $6500.

am i nuts? does it sound like im missing anything? the only other thought i had was to show up with a dial gauge and check for crank walk...but in all honestly how common is that? especially on a one owner car....

thanks!

$6500 seems a bit low. I would start at 7k but don't be suprised if you pay 8k. Even then I think you are getting a good deal. Seems like a good car for what you intend to use it for.
