The only guidelines I must follow because of the loan I'm getting to pay for the car are:
1. No older than 10 years.
2. Clean title
3. Descent amount of miles
What do you guys think? Think I can get one of these for 14k or less?
get the 06 its a so much better car.

I'd get the stock 06. The other I would not buy and just keep waiting

You think the guy would drop down to 14k coming from 17k?

Any particular reason why the first 05 with 70k is one you would avoid? Could it be the rims?

Looking at a 2002 with 44K miles and an OEM Hard Top, rear spoiler, side strakes, and front splitter. Car is in excellent condition - clearly it's babied. Second owner purchased from a woman when it had 10K miles. Mature owner swears he never gets up into VTECH RPM range. Owner is asking KBB price range (~ $18K) which I think is too high. But I don't think he would consider NADA Clean Trade-In ($12K).

What would be a fair offer on the car?

Thanks in advance

About 9 months ago my buddy paid 10.7k for his MY00 w/ oem hardtop (matching vins), clean title and 66k miles. Not in perfect condition (replaced fender and door), but it's still pretty nice overall. There are great deals to be found out there if you are patient enough. I wish I had shopped around for at least a year before making my purchase because I've seen about four really good deals since then that I wish I could have gotten on. I hope this helps.

So I have seen the car (not driven it yet, he wouldn't drive it in the rain) and the only damage I could find (actually he had to point them out) were a couple of tiny chips on the front and another tiny one on the drivers side. The side bolster has some wear but not bad at all for 10 years. Besides that the car looks incredible for a 2002. The hardtop was immaculate. NADA and Edmunds value the car (with all the options including hardtop, rear spoiler, side strakes, and front lip spoiler) at about $12K. I am thinking about offering $12,500 and seeing what he comes back at. I think at $12,500 it would be a steal. At $13,500 I think it would be a good deal. He replaced the spark plugs with NGK Iridiums. The tires have quite a bit of rubber left too. Soft top appears to be in great shape too. This may be the one ladies and gentlemen! He needs the money to buy a plane so lets see how motivated he is too let it go.

Heyas !

Well, first post, so "Hi!!". I don't like introduction, let's just say i'm french canadian (and my english might read weird haha).

Straight to the point (i can answer questions about poutine if you want to ask or anything else btw), i'm looking forward to buy a S2000. I recently sold my 1999 Civic Si (SiR in Canada) planning to get an upgrade. I never liked modifying cars like, port and polish, turbos etc. That's why i kept my old Si stock but i need something faster, more raw, more fun to drive hehe.

Sooooo, i'm looking at the S2000 here. A lot of 2005+, a lot of 150,000km + (~100k miles), ones that were in accidents etc. I really want a clean one, no mods, low mileage, no winter, no accidents, etc. Thing is that they seem to be rare. Then i see this grey 2002 with ~55,000km (~35,000 miles) near mint condition (on picutres). Car is 2 hours drive from here (heading there in 2 days to look at the thing). Price, 19,000$ CAD (~$18,200 USD). Looks a bit overpriced to me but 2004+ models are easily 20,000$ CAD. Most 2006-2007 with low mileage will get to 25,000$. Now, would you pay that for an AP1 ?

Something just came to my mind regarding THIEVES. I hate them (who doesn't). I got my first 2000 Si stolen and last summer, got my wheels stolen along with my front bumper lip and others weird things in the car (like the driver's headrest, ipod fm transmitter, money tray, etc.). I'd appreciate feedbacks regarding what people are looking for on S2000 and how to protect these parts (if possible). I saw the locks for the seats, looks awesome, i'd probably get those; anything else ?

Best regards,

trep

A garage would be your best bet.

I forgot to mention that my second Si was in a garage (it's a "public" garage, all the residents have their car in there). So they took the wheels off in that garage.
