Official Is This Car Worth It Thread vol 3
Posted this already, so sorry for the repost. The price has dropped 1,500 from original. All 10 vin numbers match up. No rust under car. Engine looks and sounds solid. No leaks. The front bumper does have some scratches on it. Also the shifter rattles/vibrates while shifting. Could this be inductive of clutch or flywheel problems, or even transmission mount? Is is worth it?
On the other hand, if you plan to hang on to the car for a long time, then the price paid probably isn't quite as important. The more time spent looking for the best deal on a S2000 means the less time spent actually driving the car and enjoying it. You still might profit from the sale of the car at some point down the road, but the value in this scenario is measured primarily by how much you've enjoyed the car itself — which some would consider priceless.
Can't believe I might be doing this, but the chance to own one of my dream cars just came up, and I might be parting ways with the Honda...
Other than the radio, the car is bone stock. Mileage is 34,125 right now. Condition is pristine. There are exactly 4 small nicks on the entire car that I can find that can be fixed with touch up. It has two sight dings that are only visible from looking down the side of the car and they can be fixed with PDR. They're in the passenger side rear quarter.
I have all manuals and service records on the car (a list of all services with mileage from the former owner). It was in a minor accident in 2006 that called for the replacement of the driver's side front fender and headlight. In October I had the front bumper repainted and refinished. All VIN tags except that front fender are present.
Tires have about 2k miles on them. It has OEM wheel locks and the S2K car cover. I recently bought new blue (OEM) floor mats. They've never been stepped on. The car is garage kept and in the 5 months I've owned it I put just under 2,000 miles on it. The car needs nothing, everything works.
I love it and will keep it unless the deal is right. I have a number in mind that I won't go below. What would you think is fair to expect in regards to an offer from the dealer?

It's an interesting twist on the thread —"Official is this car worth it on trade-in?" lol
Where are you located? If you feel that the dealer is actually giving you a fair price and it gives you a chance to obtain a dream car then it's probably going to be hard to resist. The nice thing is that if you decide not to go through with it, your S2000 will more than likely appreciate over time until you find another opportunity. Not sure what car you'r lusting after, but if it is either appreciating of depreciating in value then that might have an influence on your decision as well. Good luck!

I won't dump the S for anything, dream car or not. That I can say...Like you said, they'll come around again.
