For a clean titled S2K with somewhat high miles [but not crazy high miles] this is a pretty good deal. I've seen salvage/rebuilt titled cars going for a higher price. What color is that and what color code is on the door? If color code does not match then it probably is a respray. Actually, I find that orange to be an interesting color. At the current price point - $6800, there is room to put some money into the car, depending on what it might need. How is the top, clutch, fluids changed regularly, VIN #'s match on body panels, etc. Clearly, worth a look. You might even be able to get the price down a few hundred more. Good luck.

Here in the lower 48 that price would generally be on the high side given the mileage. However, since you live in paradise [HI] there might be a geographic mark-up.

Do you have any thoughts why the owner gave you the run-around on 7/25?, but just sold the car yesterday 8/1? Back to the '05 GPW, the CL ad has only been up 2 days, so the owner probably is not yet motivated enough. It does look very nice from the pictures though.

The only thing I could think of at the time (7/25) was that he had already sold it to the other s2k member and had failed to tell me about it. Yet the very next day he texted me only to apologize saying he was busy (even thought he knew I was flying down that day to see the car.) I guess he still thought I was interested in the car since he texted me yesterday (8/1) saying it was sold. Weird guy. Onto the 05GPW, yeah maybe I'll give that car some time. Nobody went to see it yet as far as I know, but he's pretty firm with that price so I might just have to pass and wait for another decent deal.

Thanks. With this purchase, I don't intend to do a single modification to the car and wih that, I felt like the GPW had everything I wanted. Also, I didn't want I spend close to $1k again on plane tickets just to go check out the car.
