Hmmm...I should add that it is a clean title car with no accidents reported. The red flags are the obvious motor health and number of owners.

I am a track rat, but this will not be used as a "track only" vehicle. The ITR is track only and I also have an evo 9 that I track. So the S2000 would be more of a cruiser and occasional track day car (maybe three events a year).

I can post some pics of the car, the paint is definitely "passable". I am pretty picky so my rating may be low compared to what others may rate it.

Isn't $13,000 (assuming a $2000 cylinder head repair) for a 90K mile AP2 a decent deal?

Especially considering the extra parts I'd be getting with it?

-PSS9 i can sell for $1000
-Hardtop value is at least $500

Really appreciate your opinion, but I think my friend would kill me if I asked to lower the price to 5-7000 lol.

OK, I interpreted "slammed" to mean that it had been in a accident, not formerly lowered ( !! ). You're probably young and happy to take this on!

To answer my own question....no.

Trans/diff felt AWFUL. Crazy vibrations through the whole car on decel, not sure if clutch buzz or dying diff/trans.

DC header & short shifter not previously mentioned, etc.

NOPE NOPE NOPE

Looking at a low mileage 2000 model year S2000

less than 30k miles from an individual

looks clean

plastic rear window - cloudy
(not sure if the plastic windows can be brought back to acceptable clarity or not)
I did price replacement of the rear window - the part itself 350 to 388 and then 600$ estimate from a trim shop to "sew" it into the top

owner asking $18k

car looks to be unmodified in any way

will test drive tomorrow

about a 5 owner car

I intend to bring the buyer's check list from this site w/ me

any opinions ?

suggestions for when I see it in person / test drive it?

first post here

have tried to learn as much as I can here

have some mechanical knowledge

back in the day had a 90 CRX Si

appreciate any thoughts

What seems like a reasonable offer then ?

depending on which site I look at I get values at full retail even from a dealer of (at best condition) of $16,4xx high end to other site says just $12k

For reference in 2014 I purchased my '02 with 35k miles/2 owner/stock/no accident/clean car for $14.5K, plus tax from a dealer. If everything checks out, e.g., VIN #s match, maintenance history, top/interior/exterior in good+ condition, no accidents, etc. I would think something in $15k-$17k range. I would also research why the car has had 5 owners in less than 30k miles...might be a red flag. If you live in CA there also might be a little price premium. Best of luck.

I appreciate the information

I will look at the car considering your points

question - oil banjo bolts - is that a necessary update? or more so if a person was to modify (such as FI)?

thank you

Ahhh that makes more sense. The car was lowered beyond any practical use at some point on these PSS9, which rubbed a hole into the fender liners and caused one of the previous owners to bottom out the driver side rail on a speedbump i assume.

From what I can tell there has been no major accidents. Looking closer at the car all VIN's are present on all panels, but the driver front fender looks like it has been repainted at some point (you can tell when looking at the leading edge) yet the VIN is still in tact.

I've talked a bit more with my buddy and he has agreed to let me pull the valve cover and head to inspect both the head and block prior to purchase.

I'll add some pics tonight.
