-clean carfax confirming this
-31k miles
-original top in great shape, car was stored inside under a cover

This is from a DEALER with a good reputation. "Originally asking 18.5" it is now "reduced" to $17,500. What would you offer? I have a trade, and that's a whole 'nother story, but what would be your final offer on the car itself? Is $15k fair or lowball?
I talked to that dealer the day after that car was posted for sale on CL. That dealer seems legit and was very nice on the phone. He has a good reputation, and a very nice stable of exotic cars. It seems like most of what he has are very clean cars with solid/known history. He told me he bought that car from a friend, and I'm guessing he bought it for crazy cheap.

If the S2000 I ended up buying hadn't fallen into my lap, I'd be driving that one right now. AP1's that clean, one owner, low miles, in that color combo are tough to find. I actually like that one considerably more than the one I ended up with (black on black with 53k miles), but the price was right on mine and I couldn't pass it up.

I'd suggest making him an offer, and I'd shoot low at first. You can always go up if you want the car. Good luck!

Nice looking car but dramatically overpriced. I'd wager the dealer bought it in the $8500-10k range.

$12.5k would be a more than fair offer on your part considering it's a 2001. No way I would pay anywhere close to $17-18k for it as you could easily find a 05-07 in that price range and have a much newer, less depreciated vehicle to begin with.

2004 Red S2000 with 137k. Lowered, otherwise stock, new tires. Paint looks to be in great condition with no holes in the soft top. Asking $12000

No way can you get any S2k with only 31k miles for $12.5k. Unless it would have to be a very super rare deal..or a seller that doesn't care and just wants to give it away.. or a seller that has no idea the internet exists and has never done a drop of research.

AP2's with that kind of mileage are in the 20k range easy.

$17.5 is a very decent and fair deal. I'd buy it if I had the cash.

Hi all,

I am currently in the UK but looking to buy a LHD. As there aren't any here, I've been looking at France and Germany for a quick trip to buy one.

What do you think of these

Thanks

I agree with you. A car of that state would sell for at least $15k, depending on location, if it all checks out. Last year, a 2000 NFR with 22k miles sold for 16k nearly instantly after it was posted up. I would be willing to pay around 16k for it.

2008 Chicane Silver on Black
39K miles (25K in First 3.5 years, and 15k in last 5 years, driven regularly though)
2 owner - some service records since 2011.
OEM Rear Wing
OEM Tonneau cover
$21,500

Looked at the car today. Super clean. Needs new tires soon. I think the price is fair, but would want to negotiate lower (maybe $20k?) to account for new tires. Any thoughts?

What is the going rate on a 2004 NFR with 90,000 miles? The paint appears to be really nice besides for 3 door dings that can be removed with PDR. New soft top, (unfortunately) aftermarket wheels. He wants $15,100. I was thinking of asking $14000 and see what he counters with. Opinions?

Hello everyone,

Found a low mile s2k for a reasonable price (same as kbb) in the area. Going to check it out this weekend. Just read through "What to look for when buying a used S2000/or just bought a used S2000." Useful stuff. Car is a Red '01, 2 owners, for $10,500 OBO w/ 53xxx miles. All power accessories, leather seats, power windows, power mirrors, keyless entry. Advertised as "Excellent condition" and "Runs great". All new tires and brake pads. Only downside from the ad appears to be cheap looking headlights, (not a huge fan of red either), and the title says rebuilt. When I texted the owner about it all he said was the car was in an accident, not much else.

Anyway, if there is anything you think I should know or ask the owner that would be beneficial, please let me know.

Thanks.

Rebuilt with accident, generally = bad news. If he owned the car when crashed and has pictures and documentation, it makes it slightly better. Cheap headlights = another red flag. I always think seeing it in person and talking to the owner in person is a good tell about the history of the car. As it is - $10,500 is likely overpriced and probably $8-9k makes more sense. Lots of other factors come in to play, but tread carefully.
