You did well - congrats! Suzuka Blue really pops with a good clay wash & wax (and a polish if needed).

2004 Black, 133,000 miles at a used car dealership. Clean Carfax, just got repainted (said previous owner didn't take care of the body).
They're asking $10,500. Thoughts?

Hey guys first time poster here, I've had my eye on s2k's for a few months now and I'm holding out for one in Laguna Blue Pearl, i really want the OEM hardtop but with that being said I'm open to a soft top one as well for the right deal. Ive noticed that the hard top s2k's in that color seem to fetch a premium $$$, is that a fact that the color and hard top seem to keep the price up? With that being said i found a nice one up in NY but in my opinion the dealership's price is SKYHIGH. Its a nice clean s2000 but is it really worth 27,997? I spoke with the dealership and mentioned maybe 25K and they were not having it as maybe in time the price will go down is what they said. Whats everyone think of the car, and whats everyone think of the value of a stock, clean, laguna blue pearl, hardtop s2k?

Difficult to say w/o knowing the history etc - the photos are not great. The dealer may get close to asking price, if the car really checks out clean. But I would want to know if those unfortunate red Honda emblems were the only mods done, cosmetic or otherwise. What's up with the missing shift knob? Driver seat looks pretty worn for 35k miles. I'd ask to pull the hard top (all proper hardware?) to check on the condition and operation of the soft top.

For me, that kind of asking price the car must be untouched in terms of mods, and perfectly cared for maintenance wise. LOL according to the add it was priced at $32k earlier. 25K is not an outrageous offer, so maybe if it is still there in a few weeks....

Would need to know more, e.g., workmanship/quality of repaint, what do they mean that the previous owner didn't take care of it, do all 10 VIN # stickers match, how many owners, maintenance history, any mods, etc. Without more info I would say the dealer was a little high on price. Just my .02.

I talked to Victoria their internet manager about the red one in their inventory, also overpriced. We didn't get so far as talking about the price, because I was really looking for Suzuka, but I think both cars have been there for a while. I think at least the red one was bought at auction, so either it's a showpiece and they know someone will eventually pay for the combo they have, or maybe you can get them down before winter hits.

I enjoyed speaking with her, and I had a laugh of a thought at sending them an AP2 shift knob for that Laguna though. Bizarre that they show it naked.

Bridgewater Acura in NJ also has a slew of S2000s bought at auction for very high prices and hanging around, FWIW.

Okay thanks guys, i understand what you are saying about possible mods and the car being put back to stock before it left the owner. It has a car fax and states its a 3 owner car which traded hands in Pennsylvania, and maryland than they bought it at auction and has been for sale since june. I guess they are holding out, though i can't think of anyone who would pay that high for a car without a shift knob.

Talked to Metro Ford again, they just removed it so it wouldn't get stolen.
