Official Is This Car Worth It Thread vol 3
Really? The more im looking, the 05's around the same mileage are going in the range of $19-$22k.
Some S2KIs users have shared buying a like condition and color scheme S2K for around $19k. "How Much did you pay for your USED S2000?" - Cartalk thread.
Mr. Funk, mind sharing what are some of your factors that contribute to the fair value of the 05 S2?
Thanks again everyone for all your insight and comments. Already learning a bunch here.

Last year I paid $20,500 for my 2006 38k mile Silverstone with red/black interior. It has no accidents and perfect condition and I don't feel like I stole it. I honestly feel like a I got an average price.
I found a 2006 Berlina black in excellent condition with 22k miles on the car. On the carfax it shows a front collision no airbags deployed. All vin tags are still intact on the car. I would be the 5th owner. His asking price $23,500. What are your thoughts?
The first owner only had it for 4 months, he or she was the one with the fender bender. The 2nd owner was an older gentleman and he passed away and the daughter inherited the car. She only drove it for a year and 6 months. The current owner bought the car without asking the wife, hence the car is for sale. All the history checks out and the car is in excellent condition. Now the problem I feel is and dilemma, what if I decide to sell it years down the line? Would it be very difficult? Given the fender bender and multiple owners?
Just for comparison when I was looking several months ago I could've bought a Laguna Blue 2006 with 28K miles for $23.5, it was one owner and zero accident history and every maintenance record. Owned by an older lady who got it for a retirement present.
Personally I steer clear of cars with accidents and that many owners, but that's just me. It will be hard to sell down the road and unless you get a nice discount for the history why not wait for one with less stories?
Just my 2 Cents

Are you buying the car to sell or enjoy it? You'll eventually sell the car, of course, they all get sold, wrecked, inherited.
Number of owners is meaningless to me. Condition of the car is the determinate factor. Restored to original condition is fine. Just be sure everything is straight. Low mileage car may need some extra preventive maintenance unless it got at least annual service. One-owner car can easily have been a one-time track bitch and reverted to OEM condition later on. Same with a 5-owner.
Remember the CRs were sold to be raced. In concept anyway.
This low mileage is neither unusual nor bad. Happens with roadsters all the time as they're frequently just fun, summer cars. The damage sounds like a parking scrape since there's no airbag deployment and the VIN tag is still there. I'd be interested if buying the car if there's a lot of body filler or just what the repair was and how it was fixed. Just saw an episode of Fantom Works where they repaired a severe door dent in a 1962 quarter-million dollar car. No one was twittered about "body damage" and the car (that car) is worth more fixed right.

Still lots of these cars available but don't lose the one you want for $1000.

I think it sounds fine, the accident was apparently minor. Does the paint match well? Can you even tell at all? Get a pre purchase inspection to be safe. I would try to get the price down a little but honestly you aren't going to do much better for that low of mileage and the year. 22k sounds about right to me. Offer 21 and see where it goes, pending a good PPI.
My car is a 2006 which I purchase last year for 20.5k with 38k miles. I am the third owner. The first was someone who leased the car for the first 3 years and 15k miles. The second owner whom I purchased it from drove it only 23k more miles in 7 plus years and had an insurance monitoring thingamaggig in the OBD port if that tells you anything about how hard he must have driven it. All VINS match and no reports of accidents. If I sold it the buyer would be number four. One owner passing away could have made you number five as well. I am confident mine is a creampuff.

I had funds ready and a car rental ready(cancellable anytime). I ran the carfax and told him about the previous owners and the accident. He acted genuinely surprised and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He then mumbles maybe thats why the ABS light comes on and off intermittently. He failed to disclose that issue earlier. He just reassured me everything is good and he thoroughly checked the car before he bought it. Just come and check it out. So, I said okay. We will go to my bank that is located in his city and I'll write him a certified cashier check and let the banker confirmed funds if the car checks out. See you tomorrow. He calls me a few hours later and asks can we just go to the bank and withdraw cash because he doesn't feel comfortable putting the certified cashier check into his account. I'm walking away from this car. I don't feel good about it.
