Was this a model year or calendar year change? Easy enough to look at the build date on the drivers door jam and compare the model year in the VIN. There were about 10,000 MY 2002 cars build. Model year changes about September.
It's a shame the build date doesn't show in the Registry (here). Mine was July 2006 making it an "almost-2007" car. 200 built after mine. Looks like it was built 2 weeks before model year change, certainly in the last month.

The Craigslist post has been deleted so maybe you've gotten it already, but my favorite year is 03'. Granted, I've never driven an AP1, but an 03' is guaranteed to have the better banjo bolts, has the higher rev limit, and has the quicker steering ratio that they went back to with the CR.

I had funds ready and a car rental ready(cancellable anytime). I ran the carfax and told him about the previous owners and the accident. He acted genuinely surprised and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He then mumbles maybe thats why the ABS light comes on and off intermittently. He failed to disclose that issue earlier. He just reassured me everything is good and he thoroughly checked the car before he bought it. Just come and check it out. So, I said okay. We will go to my bank that is located in his city and I'll write him a certified cashier check and let the banker confirmed funds if the car checks out. See you tomorrow. He calls me a few hours later and asks can we just go to the bank and withdraw cash because he doesn't feel comfortable putting the certified cashier check into his account. I'm walking away from this car. I don't feel good about it.
Good luck on your search. There's plenty of good ones out there.

I have a 2005 and if I were to sell it, I think I'd list it for $27k and be willing to take $25k or so. Then again, mine only has 10k miles and is completely mint... No tears, no wheel rash, no scratches. So I'll agree with others here that the 2005 is overpriced. I'd go with the 2008.

10.5k for rebuilt 2003....
.....local craigslist has an 03 Sebring 82k miles rebuilt....car was rear ended, trunk hood, passenger tail light we're replaced and quarter panel was straightened.
Dealer out the car up on a lift for me to look at and I can see some repairs to the frame near the impact yet everything else seems relatively unmolested underneath. I offered 8.5k and they didn't bite so I wished them luck and pounded sand.
No way will I pay more than 60% market value on a rebuilt car with frame damage.

I paid $11.8k for a very clean 160k mile 02 Sebring with about $6k in suspension modifications. Shrug.
