If I wasn't so hellbent on not getting another berlina, I'd probably pick up the CR that's for sale down the street from me...

Looked up GPW CRs in the area..hmm... very few if any are around.. Maybe a regular S2k is the way to go....

Jason..that's a cool photo btw

Got my Apex Blue Pearl key hole covers in today! Best mod on the S's. Had them on my LBP S2K and now on the CR! Get's rid of the "crome" look of the key holes! Will post pics later!

I've been looking at CRs again. Just bugs the crap out of me that the GPWs are so damn hard to come by.

Is it possible to install a soft top in the CR? I imagine the mounting holes are there. I really want a CR for a lot of reasons, but I do not feel that I can sacrifice the versatility of putting a top up and down. I would us the car as a DD and living in AZ would want to use the top while at work, and top down driving to and from work.

No, there is a structural brace where the soft top would be.

IMHO, alternatives are:
1. AP1 with CR bumpers, wings, wheels if your reasons for CR are cosmetic
2. AP2 with CR suspension and swaybars if your reasons for CR are handling
3. CR with car cover or cockpit cover for work

Any pictures of what kind of cockpit covers you are referring to? I have considered the car cover route, and was thinking there must be something out there to cover the cockpit.

My reasons are the whole package. Not just one thing in particular. I refuse to build a CR out of a standard Ap2. I built an STI out of a WRX, and it was more money, time, and hassle then if I could have just bought an STI in 2002 when I got my WRX.

Cockpit cover: page 23 of this thread

The whole package of the CR is nice, but I consider no soft top part of that package. Also, the difference between an STI and a WRX seems to be greater than that of a S2k and CR. If you didn't do the interior, you could get away with front lip, rear wing (can get the carbon fiber replica so no need to paint), suspension, front/rear sway. Wheels aren't necessary as IMO they aren't that special. Steering ratio is nice. Chassis bracing would have to go if you want a soft top.

Yes you are right about the whole package. Thanks for making me eat my own words , but you are right. That cover looks perfect for what I would need. Living in the desert, sun is the only problem. I have been interested in a hardtop anyway for summers in AZ. I think ideally a beater car for those really hot days would be best.

Thanks for the input.

Question for the fellow CR guys on the car's highway ride. In my experience so far, it's pretty dissapointing; the car is so d*mn noisy at highway speeds (60mph+) that i dread having to take it on the highway at this point. After about 30 mins, it really starts getting uncomfortably noisy. The two main noise components are from the engine and then the windows. I have a K&N intake, but don't think that should have added too much noise b/c it's really not much different at part throttle, at least around town. I may end up going back to stock soon... Is there any way to reduce engine noise in this car at highway cruising speeds? Sound insulation? And for the wind noise, the seal appears to be very poor between both windows and the hard top. Anyone encountered this and rectified it? Is it worth having a dealer take a look at and maybe having them try and re-align it? As a side note, I realize this car isn't about comfort, but this is pretty dissapointing after having shelled out 30k...
IMO The CR is more quiet than my stock 06 s2000 was. I just took a trip from Portland to San Francisco and, to me, it was a pleasure. If this is your first s2000, it does have much more noise than a standard car.
