@ mChester: I'm so jealous of that lift.
I was seriously paranoid when I was doing my oil change yesterday and even made my roommate watch me and ready with the second jack in case the car moved =X

But I've heard of cars falling off lifts (though rare) so, still gotta be careful. Luckily noone was hurt in said incident.

Ill take a picture tomorrow Its actually really simple
But basically it was a 1/2" hose that I cut into two 1/4" lengths and just attached to the pointy part of the latch. No more rattles.
I just measured, My garage is 110" high and the rails for my garage doors are 90" high. I don't think it's tall enough to get a useable lift in.
My wife is on board however that our next house will have at least a 3 car garage and more importantly at least one 15ft tall bay. My parents have a lift in their garage and it's incredibly handy. Unfortunately a project car has been stuck on it for the past 18 months and their garage is so damn untidy I would rather work on jackstands at my house.

As for Paul's tragic accident, it should be a reminder to all of us that there is no "safe" way to lift a 3,000lb object off the ground. All we can do is try to diligently mitigate the risk as best we can.

I never ran into the practice till I met a friend that was a tech a few years back. After he jacks up any car, he always puts blocks of wood under the side jackpoints. It's not cheap, but it DOES work.

i dont think my garage is tall enough. i think i have seen lifts that are only half the height. maybe someone knows and can link me
At 110" you'd have about 5'8" walk around height under the S2000. The problem for you would be the column height. For the one I bought, the columns are 111" + 3" to stand them up. Mine missed my ceiling by 2" when I stood them up.
