-Official- S2K accident thread
Sorry for the bad pictures, but my spin story starts with me going to buy a truck at an extremely good deal. I live in Virginia and the truck I was buying was in Pennsylvania, about 4.5 hours away. So we set out and picked up the truck and on the way back as my friend was driving my s2000 it began raining and he took an exit ramp going to fast and spins out slamming against the side walk. The whole back axle snapped at the cv joints but didn't damage the differential. The knuckle completely snapped and and bent the hub. Also the driverside rear passenger wheel after being snapped off slammed into the fender and bent it outwards ! This was not a good night -_- after everything had to get it towed all the way home.

I saw another picture, he had an OEM hardtop. What a waste. Don't drink and drive, let alone speed.

None of us witnessed this. None of us truly knows what happened. Until a toxicology report is completed, there is no way to know if the driver was drunk or even had been drinking. For all we know he was swerving to avoid something or someone in the road (wildlife, debris, another vehicle which left the scene, whatever). We don't know. And of course speed was a factor. He was driving down the road. He had to have been doing some level of speed. They just don't define it if was excessive speed for that road. Naturally it's expected that the reader will infer that the speed was excessive but that is never actually stated. We *could* assume the car wouldn't break in half unless the speed was incredibly high, but then there are those salvage cars with rebuilt titles which may not have been rebuilt properly and didn't have proper structural integrity. The possibilities are endless. Everyone here is free to discuss (and even debate) the topic all we want, but it's all just conjecture and discussion. May want to keep in mind that there isn't much point in getting too worked up over conjecture.
Hope everyone keeps the shiny side up in 2014.
I set out for a random evening drive on Halloween due to having no plans for the night, and ended up hitting the second of two elk crossing the freeway (I-90 in WA state). The front-passenger side of the vehicle sustained significant damage as you can see in the pictures below.

After a hefty repair bill which my insurance covered, the car was repaired and I am very satisfied with the work that was done. Below are pictures of my car the day after I got it back.
