He might have been trying to pass, that had to be pretty high speeds to crush that much of the passenger compartment.

Adding to this thread, 2008-2014 RIP to my car.
Doing the speed limit in the morning on the way to breakfast, rear suddenly lost traction, got squirrely, by the time I straightened out we headed towards hill on the right, got airborne, pass side hit that rock in the pic and flipped the car, slid to a stop upside down, no injuries, just minor scratches.

^-- finally fell into to hellaflush

Probably should have gotten an alignment since it had been off for a while, being a weekend car didn't help since I put it off due to not driving it.

Sorry for your loss. Glad the stock rollbar and windshield held up in a flip.

It looks like the hard top helped.
Glad you are okay.

What was the limit? 45mph?

50, long sweeping turns. Surprisingly the roll hoops did not even touch the hard top. the windshield took all the weight.

Wow, you are very lucky to have come out of that alive. From those marks on the ground it looks like the car slid a good distance while upside down. Glad you're okay!

It goes without saying, all of us here mourn your loss and would never want to be in your shoes. I have only 2 years of ownership in this car and I find this a bit unsettling that this would happen the way you described. I have been driving rear wheel drive cars pretty much my entire life and yet these occasional rear departures get my attention. I get the bald tires, speed, bad/uneven road conditions can bite you but you say you were going 50 on what looks like a gentle curve. I can see you have some tread left.

Do you think your alignment was really that far out?

Damn, that's serious stuff. Sorry for your loss... Btw, which rear bumper/diffuser was that?
