I have the gopro mounted on top of the secret compartment. Very amazed at the video quality although I can't seem to figure out what the knocking noise is. Might be the crap inside the glove box moving around.

AdotWu.... check your secret compartment itself. There is some slop in how tight the lid fits. I put some rubber bumpers (Like for underneath furniture) on the lid to make it fit tight. Otherwise make sure your shutter button itself is not making the noise. You can take camera out of housing and shake it to see if it happens. After I fixed those two things, I had no more rattling! Hope that helps!

After watching your video... I would say it sounds like you are using the factory GoPro mounts and not using the little white rubber thing to tighten up the mount?

+1 for the lititle rubber thing blowing in the wind and making the unwanted noise.

like mentioned, also wedge something, I use paper, in the sides of the lid to keep it from shaking. It makes a huge difference.

Here's a video I took last weekend at a track day:

GoPro HD Hero 2
Res: 960 30fps (medium wide)
Metering: Spot
Mounting: GoPro roll bar mount.
Sound: Internal Mic

Hey guys I get a ton of wind noise on this thing. I tried to improvise a windcutter out of a dish sponge, to no avail. I can't even hear the engine. So would my money be better spent on one of those micover/storm chaser things, or a ~$30-40 external mic?

I have the Micover and it helps a lot but only up to about 50-60 MPH and it depends on how high you have the RPM's. If you have your engine in vtec, it is easier to hear, otherwise it gets drowned out by the wind noise.

The front bumper mount that I made works pretty well because the back of the GoPro is almost touching the bumper so there is less buffeting there to produce wind noise. I do have a Audio Technica Pro 24cm on its way though... and like the other guys on the thread have shown, the results speak for themselves! Hope this helps!
