Photos of new windscreen prototype: we have a winner: problems have been solved
Rick and Sam. That is just brilliant! Congratulations. I think you're on to another winner here. It looks sooo much better than the Z3 and CLK "hairnet" versions.
BTW, did you use laser cutting for the Lexan, AND laser etching for the logo?

1Y2KS2K,
Yes, the Lexan was cut with a laser and the logo was marked with a laser (in the new high-tech jargon, lasers don't etch, they "mark").
In the end, we may have the basic shape routed, because it may be less expensive. But the logo will be laser-marked.
I'll know in another week. I anticpate that the group buy for these will begin in about two weeks.

Safety problem with design.
I like the looks of it. However, since I used to design for NIKE. Thus, I can pledge for when something is a great design but due to some flaw will make it dangerous.
This windscreen is already been designed by Honda and rejected due to possible fatality during an accident.
Look at the pointed sharp edges next to your ear or temple. During a roll or rear end incident. I would not want sharp edges next to my head. Don't believe that Honda did not think of this in one minute.
Sorry to rain on your party. Just my two cents.

S2KYELLOW,
For those concerned about safety, securely mounting small rubber bumpers (I found some clear ones at Lowes) in front of the aeroscreen about two-thirds up the roll hoop should take care of breaking off and flying forward in the event of a severe head-on collision. As for roll-overs, all bets are off, as they are, for example, for the windshield frame.
wirejock,
When the light hits it different ways, it kind of light up naturally. Very cool.
