Nastinupe,
I have to totally agree with you on the racial profiling here in good ol' Tennessee. It happens ALOT in this area of the country to Blacks, Hispanics, Asians... basically if your skin has pigment....

As xviper I have many EMS, law enforcement, and other friends and while many are very respectable, there are just as many who are bad (and i mean drug dealing, drug taking, roid raging lunatics with a badge) at least in my experience (this info comming from a police officer whom i'm friends with).
When pulled over though I always give them the benefit of the doubt and show respect no matter their attitude towards me.... It's much harder for a situation to escalate when at least one party is level headed..

Oh did anyone happen to catch the situation with the Higway patrol in my home town (cookeville,TN) a few months back when they pulled over a guy comming from nashville (who was supposedly a robber because he left his wallet on top of his car and another motorist called the police because she say money coming off the top of the van) got pulled over in cookeville and were required to get out and lay on the ground and were not allowed to close the van door so that their dog wouldn't get out.... then shot the dog point blank in the head with a shotgun even though it was not acting aggresively (I saw the video...) ... some messed up stuff....

I feel your pain. Harassment is a way life out here. There has been 3 exhaust tickets given to my team in the last month. So what do I do? Go and buy an exhaust system that can pull 116db on full song! Now that's clear thinking.

I did. It's quite sad. But police are human, just like every one of us. Good, bad, AND ugly.......

Yeah it was weird as just hours before I had just gotten off on that exit (287 off of I40) comming from Nashville... I come home to visit my parents all of 2-3 times a year!

Lets just say that I've had a few confrontations (as a teenager) or what have you with the Cookeville police and Highway Patrol and at least the officers I've encountered weren't exactly.... 'professional.' Not to mention my friend that I mentioned earlier was a former member of 'Cookeville's finest.'

nastinupe1, I feel your pain. I've had my fair share of harrassment from the police; however, I've also had very pleasant experiences with police officers. Officers around here simply don't like it when punk kids drive $50K+ cars.

Like others have said, police officers are human too. "Police corruption" isn't a foreign phrase to many people. Hell, my friend used to smoke marijane with a cop.

Next time you get harrassed, just ask them, "Do you know who Terence Hallinan is?"
