If they ask you to pop the hood then they must need permission. Just ask if his wife can pop the hood of her car for you since he is into strangers checking under other strangers hoods. Always answer his question with another question. "why do you want me to pop the hood" "why do you want to check for a motor" etc. Or just say no everytime he asks. When they have real cause they will pop the hood themselves and search the car without asking you.

Really we don't like people (even ones saying its official duty related) to be able to search your private property. If he has probable cause then he can take the time to run thru the proper procedures to get a warrant. That is why they ask you to do something rather than tell you to do something.

If you don't care, you can give him a happy day by just popping the hood.

 

thanks ZX11 but if i give him a happy day. i get a bad day since he did say a rude comment as he was walking away when i was closing my hood. i didnt have any issues till he said something retard (i think he said it because he didnt find what he wanted under the hood like illegal mods)
