Are the prices for S2000s out of control?

The prices for S2000's are really high, that's good because you don't want any boyracer buying up s2000's and trashing them. Mannheim had a 2008 s2000 for upper 20's and maybe even in the 30'. Someones selling a 2006 silver s2000 with 91k miles for $17k in chicago right now. seems kind of ludicrous to me.

Cars that are great and discontinued always hold their value better. How is 10k-18k crazy? It is just the price of a brand cheapest kia or up to a brand new corolla.

Real talk.

10-18k isn't crazy.
Its just that when you see one that's hellaflush. 160k and suzuka blue being sold for 14k. Then it's absurd lol.

Nope... I am a music lover, and I need my tunes...

Love the car...love my house...love my office (well...wait a minute...maybe I don't "love" my office)...

But regardless of where I am, I need access to my music...and it needs to have reasonable range and volume... I am a bit of a audiophile, but I am realistic about what I can achieve outside of sitting in front of my audio rack at home.

Even on my motorcycle, I put on a set of earbuds at low volumes (so that I have at least a sense of the traffic around me)...

The magic, is that there's always the volume knob that allows you to enjoy the sound of the engine when you crave to hear it... But not having a reasonable sound system in the car is unacceptable... Just me though... YMMV...

What he said.

My car was all original with the CD changer and head unit. The sound sucked and the changer skipped. The minimum for me was:

More power (volume)
Better resolution
Better range
Connectable to MP3

CD changer was out (although I kept it).
Head Unit was out, and replaced with a Kenwood BT.
OEM speakers out and replaced with separates.
6" tube in the back to increase range.

All basic, all returnable to stock (except door panels). However, way better sound. I can actually enjoy music with the top down at 80.

I had an 8-inch powered Bazooka tube in my 1988 Acura Integra LS years ago, and it performed admirably...

Is your 6-inch tube the same variety? How does it fit in your trunk space? Do you mind taking a photo of the tube in your trunk as it is installed? Love to see what it looks like...

How does it sound? Punchy? Does the effective frequency get low enough to satisfy your needs (provides a fuller sound)?

It definitely provides fuller sound. However, with the top down lots of punch is lost. I have the same tube in my Ridgeline and its punchier in that than the S2k.

I don't think the issue is power or bass, its the separation from the trunk to the passenger compartment. Top up hold more sound in and it can be quite punchy. Top down, more sound is lost, but you can still feel it. It will rattle the plate.
