proper downshifting technique?
rev-matching while the clutch is down helps to prevent clutch wear and the shock to the transmission when downshifting. it is good, but not best.
rev-matching while the clutch is not engaged and in neutral matches the revs of the flywheel, the tranny input shaft and the tranny output shaft (which is driven by your vehicle speed). This prevents wear to the clutch AND tranny synchros.
