Default Question about Glove Compartment lock.

Alright so my friend was dicking around in my car while I was driving and he pulled down/opened the glove compartment just when I was about to shift. Needless to say, my elbow ended up hitting the compartment door and the hinge snapped off partially.
After spending days just gluing the thing back together only having to come off a week later and repeating the process again and again, i've decided to just buy another glove compartment.

Question is, would my key work on someone else's glove compartment lock? Or is it possible to remove my current lock and put it in the new one?

Yes, it is possible to remove the current lock and put it onto your new glove box. I've done it. It's just a C lock clip thingy.

you key may or may not work in the new lock, I have never tried my key in someone elses lock. The MY may also make a difference (AP1/ AP2).

VERY easy to swap the key locks,, there's a single phillips screw inside the lock area,, unscrew it, and the lock/button combo will fall out,,,
