LATEOTT's right, your manual states to leave it in until 3750, under EXTREME driving conditions. Otherwise, its 7500 for NORMAL driving conditions. Read your manual & make the best choice based on that & your driving habits.

Manual says 7500 mi between changes. It's what you should do.

As noted above, check to see if you meet extrememe contitions- I bet at least half of those who use it as a daily driver do (stop and go traffic, short drives, temp extremes over 90F- I'm sure you meet that sometimes in S TX). Also, many would say that after the break in, it is a good idea to go ahead and do the change- there is little downside- your car is broken in, for the most part, and you want to get the metal particles out, I'd say. This topic has been much dicscussed- do a search if you want more input.

I don't think you have to change oil at 3500.
In fact, you might not want to change it that early.
However, you definitely want to check your oil level.
At 5000, I had very little oil left. I had no idea it was going to burn that much oil. You may want to check the level and top it off.
I changed oil at around 7000 and at 14000, I switched to mobil 1. I changed oil again at 21000. It's time for me to change oil again

Oh I forgot.....it all depends on how you drive of course.
We check the oil when it's being drained. Besides having most oil burnt on the original lot, all outgoing oil looked just fine. 7000 mile interval for us was more than good enough.

Changed my break in oil at 3500 but didn't go to syn oil
at that time. Will go syn at next oil change around 6500-
7000. I have only put 5500 miles on my car and it's a year old. I may be wrong but I also think time enters into the oil change equation along with other driving conditions.

Definitely. Even with low miles, one should change the oil every 6 months as the components break down over time.

Hell, somebody told me today to just weld the hood shut and run it 'til the first tune up at 100K. NOT!

Actually he's wrong if you read you manual. It says 3,750 or 6 months under severe driving conditions / 7,500 or 12 under normal driving conditions. In actuality you should change your oil when consumption drops (meaning that piston ring seating is complete or near complete). There is a balance when to remove the molybdenom rich break in oil. When your rings have seated switch to Mobil 1.
