In what model years does the S2K have a clock and where is it located? Also where is the vin plate if I want to check build date? Is it illegal to remove it?

 

I know for a fact that 2002 has a clock in the radio display. I have an '00 and I do NOT have a clock. I don't think '01 has it either.
The VIN plate is on the dash at the base of the driver's side windshield. If you're looking for the build date, I don't know where that info is. And yes, it is illegal to remove the one on the dash and may be also illegal to remove any other such number plates wherever they may be located.

 

US spec 01 does have a clock on the radio head unit like 02...

 

as xviper said one of the vin plates is in the car... another is under the hood top left side when you are facing the car from the front, and also one inside the driver side door. the engine number is on the engine (near the front top) and the tranny number is under the tranny. dont think the build date is on any of those.

 

by the way, the VIN is also on theft deterant labels on the engine, tranny, front bumper, hood, trunk lid, rear bumper, front fender, door, and outer rear panel.
still no build date!

 

I think the build date is on the documentation that comes along with the car but the dealer keeps all this stuff. Call them and they may be able to tell you.

 

The VIN is also supposedly hidden in several places. My dealer told me there are at least 12 stickers.

 

You're not thinking of starting up an S2000 "chop shop" are you?
