basically, they flip a switch right when youre in target and clocks your speed. this is different than if a radar was constantly on, then you can detect it.

on a side note, i heard that cops are having sterility problems because when they are clocking cars, they have the gone on their laps and if the gun is constantly on... you get the jist.

on a further side note, i heard that people who've been using hands free for cell phones have them on belt clips and now they've been getting pelvic cancer from their phones.

Basically the instant on is usally K band and they simply have a trigger. As soon as they see you coming, they push the trigger and get your speed. This is an awful feeling because at this point, you get a full strength signal on your radar and there is nothing you can do.

Your only hope is to catch them using radar on someone else up the road.

Very few states seem to use straight radar that is always on anymore.

Also keep in mind that VASCAR is becoming popular. They basically time you between two points so there is no radar to pick up.

Passport 6800? Are you joking? Pull out the wallet bud your unit died about 5 years ago. Current model is the 8500....top of the line is the SR-1, although most here use Valentine 1.

Got a ticket from a state trooper in Ga 3 yrs ago. Clocked at 89 in a 70. He told me "just keep it under 80 and we won't bother you." Just returned from 1000 mile RT run to FL (thru AL and TN) and set it to 9 over posted speed limit (I calibrated speedo against mile markers with stop watch). No problems. Seems most everbody gives you that much tolerance.

I've been in courthouses before, and on the wall are posted the people on trial for the day and the offenses, including the specific speeds for which they have been ticketed. I have seen speeds as low as 7 or 8 over the speed limit listed there. From my experience, when a ticket gets lowered by the cop or the county attorney, they lower it to the top of the next category, i.e., down to 9 over or 19 over. Therefore, I presume that these tickets were correct as actually clocked. Of course, most will be given only at higher speeds, because the cop can wait for them.
