this guy said it best man... took me about 10 years till i was able to finally get an s (not saying that it was the focus the entire time though). Just keep your head up, scan CL daily, and hope for the best. I personally got lucky with mine, as I was already watching it on CL. the owner put a deposit on a car and wanted to quick sell it, so he dropped the price on cl, and thankfully i was able to purchase it in the same day (got the approval/loan taken out within 10min of my bank closing lol).

I think a long search is like a badge of honor for all S2K owners. I too am from NE Indiana, and you're right, it seems the inventory is bad around here. I searched for about 1.5 yrs in order to find my 2006 laguna blue. I was dead set on a laguna, love this color. I had to open my search up extensively to find it. Ended up finding a dealer in Little Rock Arkansas (a dodge dealer of all places!) I called them, saw the pics, and placed a $500 deposit, which is so crucial to hold it so no one can nab it from under you like what had happened to you. This was approximately 750 miles from my home, but was so worth it. That drive home was awesome! I know it'll happen for you, keep at it!

FWLBP, I was starting to wonder if there were any other Hoosiers here.:-) I've heard nice comments on LBP.

If weather holds for the six hour drive home, I may have an S in the garage come Monday evening. Car is on the north side of Pittsburgh. My brother lives there, checked the car out, and happens to be here for a conference. Hoping to ride home with him Sunday and finish the deal Monday. Only issue now is weather. High Monday of 34 and 50% chance of snow!

Fingers crossed.

Ya I wish there were more Hoosiers with s2k's. I'm I. Ft Wayne area and don't see too many. I also bought my s2k in winter and the drive home was a little scary for the last hour of the drive. There was a fine powder of snow and those bridgestones hated it lol. That was the only time it's ever seen snow. Good luck on your purchase, looking forward to seeing pics Monday night! =D

Change in plans due to weather. Seems more favorable for Wednesday. Flying to Pittsburgh that morning and hope to be out of town before rush hour. If weather and travel plans work, I hope to have a photo or two to post. Then maybe I can make formal introduction and stop being a lurker.

FWLBP, maybe we can meet sometime. You are 1.5 hours away at most.

A lurker is someone who never posts but just reads. I think you have long since stopped being a lurker.

Have a safe and fun journey.

There's an s2000 group Indiana chapter on facebook.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/2552...154/?ref=br_tf

It is not very active, but they do have some meet ups and brown county drive events yearly.
I didn't join last year but plan to this year.

Hope to see you there with your new S2000!

My first up close encounter with an s2000 was on the showroom floor at Thompson's Honda in Terrible Haute (lived there for a few years).

Super cool Honda dealership; Honda cars and Honda motors ports in one building.

The owner was an avid motorcycle collector, and had much of his collection on display throughout the building.

They had an s600 (owner's collection), and when they had an s2000, they'd sit side-by-side on the showroom floor (also had a cool 70's Civic).

oh! then do a mobile pre-purchase inspection. I thought you were talking about time to just search for cars locally.

that's something I always do. the price of that can range from $75-200 (for cars like an s2000, i'd ask them to do a compression check too which would make it near the $200 ballpark). Tell the seller, that you want them to hold the car for you if you're sending out the mechanic. In one scenario, i had a seller sell the car minutes after the inspection was done. Luckily afterwards I didn't want the car anymore, but it would of been frustrating otherwise.

If the car mechanically checks out then book yourself a flight to check out the car and/or time off from work.

I even get the pre-purchase inpsections done on a used car that is selling for $2000-3000.

The first car (local one) just happened. Year, miles, number of owners and price were all in line. I just didn't know what was happening online while I thought I was working a deal.

My comment about time & money was really was about having to make numerous long distance trips chasing cars. I'm willing to travel for the right car. In fact, if the deal I'm working on now pans out then I'll be making a similar flight and drive as you did to find yours. Great thanks go out to the Allegheny Group for checking out the car. S2K owners are great.
