Default Rear window question

Nothing found on a search.

I have the modifry straps on order, my stock ones are toast. When I push the bar back to allow the top to fold properly, it drops perfectly. When I put the top back up, I get a thump from the back window rubbing behind the seats. I'm just concerned that it may crack the window if rubbing too much. Is this normal?

Thx.

no its not normal and its not good. I think its the bar thats rubbing, IIRC. Just dont put your top down til you get the modifry straps. It shouldnt break the window (dont quote me on this now..) but it will probably scratch the rolll over bar and possibly break the frame if it grabs

No it's definitely the top of the window. When it comes back up it hangs just a little bit right behind the head restraints. I didn't notice it before because the top wasn't folding back properly, and didn't go all the way down. Now when I help the bar (since the straps are ineffective) it goes all the way down, but now I get the thump. The straps won't do anything more than what I'm doing with helping the the bar right?

Nobody else has this issue to date? Anybody?

I'm afraid to raise and lower the top at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Like I said, When I had the top up/down with me when I was installing a glass top, what hit was that 2nd bar. BUT, just dont put it down until the modifry strap comes in, whats the problem?

I had this before. you'll need the straps to pull the glass and bars up correctly.

In my case, I riveted the new straps the wrong way and my top wouldn't unfold at the right time/the right way, thus the glass would hit the back of the roll bars going up and down. it was as if i didnt even have them. it's been a while since i did the mod...i wish i could help more. but i remember that fixing the strap placement solved everything. good luck when they come in.

I figured it out. When the top is down, the top of the window lies just below where the hinge is for the top compartment. When the top comes up, it gets hung up a little on that hinge area where there is a gap. I'm going to just put a piece of black duct tape or something that looks a little nicer over that gap. Anybody else have that issue? Or could anybody do me a favor and take a look at their's when the top comes up how close the top of the window gets to the gap?

Thx.
