Reliability of your modified car (especially with a SC)

That sound encouraging. I'm also guessing that the heavily "tweaked" cars also get the mods cause the owners really like putting all that power to use (autocross, drag racing, street racing)...possibly also shortening the lives of the car.

Not necessarily. I'm sure there are many owners who squeeze more HP out of their kits purely for bragging rights and to see if they could. Both Comptech and Vortech built kits for this car on a rather conservative level for safe running and reliability. When you just "gotta" have that extra 20 HP, you must be prepared to accept the consequences.

To add to what xman has said, just be aware that the latest batch of Vortech kits have had a tendency to run lean. IMO, these kits are no longer just "bolt on and go." I would recommend you hook your car up to a wideband o2 sensor as soon as possible after install of your SC so that you can be sure the piggyback unit isn't kicking your AFR up to 15:1 at WOT (as in my case).
