Fastest I've ever done a top was in 2 hours with no retrofit. That involved me and two other guys that knew what they were doing. We also removed the entire interior. It was also an OEM top though which helped.

For the guys doing it in 3 hours by only removing the rear trim, I can't see how you can remove the two rear side gutter pieces without breaking something as they're installed underneath the roll hoops and the rest of the interior has to come out to remove the hoops. I'd love to see some pics of the process next time you get a chance.

I've already had a few locals ask me for some help eventually so I get the feeling I'll be getting pretty good at this moving forward. It's really not that bad if you know what you're doing. I think I'd want to do two or three more before I felt like a pro though. I can't imagine doing a top in three hours but with three people I can see it being possible. Pretty sad that all of the professionals I called quoted it as a 12-15 hour job..

Does anyone know how long all the straps for the retro fit are suppose to be? I bought a new glass top but no straps.

I'd like to see a time-lapse video of that.

My Robbins top only came with 2 straps -- to replace the worn/broken OEM ones between bows 1 and 2, but no straps like in the OP's pictures.

This seems to get asked often. Not sure if Robbins does a good job of making sure those are in the box. I'm sure they would be happy to send you a set if you give them a call though. I'll be sure to take measurements of the straps next time I get a retrofit in and put it up in the first post for reference (unless someone else can do it before then)

After contacting many members and being confused on the issue, I called Robbins (should have just done this first lol)

The AP1 frames do NOT have a spring loaded 3rd bow, so the need the long straps that go from the 3rd bow to the rain rain PLUS straps that go between the 2nd and 3rd bows.

AP2 frames have a spring loaded 3rd bow, and already come with the long straps that go to the rain rail, so the replacement top only comes with 2 straps -- to connect the 1st and 2nd bow, replacing the elastic straps that typically wear out/ break.

That is correct. Only the 2000-2001 year models require any sort of extra strap. Sorry I didn't mention that earlier, I figured you were doing a retrofit. All kits should come with new elastic for the front two bows though. I don't think EZ-On has the elastic for any year model.

Walmart stocks elastic and nylon for cheap if needed.
