I am having a rediculously hard time getting the center metal bracket attached to the rain guard. I didn't think you would have to take the roll hoops out but you are going to need the room.

I tryed slinging my body into the trunk, belly up to get to it with no luck. Never again am I doing this.

This part is always a pain. It definitely helps to have the roll hoops out just because of this step. I usually straddle the transmission tunnel and have a friend hold the top off my head while I simultaneously smash the rubber rain rail over the studs and attempt to pop the metal bracket over that. I usually put a nut on the center stud first and then work my way out to the sides.

do the angled straps on an AP2 frame (spring loaded 3rd bow) attach to the 2nd or 3rd stud from the front? Looks like the retrofit kits have longer straps to attach to the 4th stud in from the front...

It helps to be very flexible

I'm pretty sure they attach to the second stud.

FYI, RockAuto has a Robbins brand vinyl top for $473.79 and a Stayfast for $508. Thats MUCH cheaper than topsonline. I just emailed topsonline to see if they would cancel my order with them that I placed friday morning, its a $80 difference for me with shipping.

I am having a hard time with the edges of the soft top lining up. I am talking about the edges of the frame that line up with the windshield. The new top doesn't seem to pull overthe edges. Everything else is good. Any links

Is physically cutting the top as shown in the first step required? I want to remove my soft top assembly to reduce weight as I no longer use my soft top. However keeping it intact for future use or for resale seems like something I would like to do.

Obviously I understand cutting the top makes sense as its easier to remove the setup if you are replacing it with a new top, but I just want to remove it for weight reduction purposes as I no longer use it.

If anyone is going to use a ez on top, I recommend making the pre punched holes bigger before even starting the install.

Ez on top is a pain in the ass.
