Retro-fit is POSSIBLE!
ccarnel:
I got the '02 soft top from a s2ki member for $450. it was not brand new but it was taken off his new blue s2000 'cuz he upgraded to the blue soft top. the soft top looks brand new when i got it.
the new soft top from the dealer (hparts.com or H and A accessories) will only cost you about $700-$800 top.
ulysses:
according the helms service manual, the 00-01 and 02 frames are not the same. it seems like the
top will not fold correctly. after i install mine, the top fits perfectly but did not fold correctly. eimea
was the first person who did it but eimea had the dealer to install it. the dealer used elastic strips
to help fold the top and i tried the same on mine and it worked! basically, without the elastics, the
last "bar" (there are total of 3 bars you see on top of the roof when the top is folded up) will hit
the roll bar. in order to clear that when you want to fold the top down, you'll have to use elastics and
connect the last bar to the second last bar. so then when you fold the top when the 2 bars will pull closer as the top is folded down and clear the roll bar. on the '02 frame, honda designed it differently.
the '02 frame uses 2 springs (one on each side) and the spring will pull the bars when the top is folding down. i compared the 00-01 and 02 frame in the manual before i start the installation myself and that is the only difference i see in the service manual. the frame structure are pretty much the same.
currently, i am still working on uploading the pics and also need to finish up my defroster. i just started
school and other stuff, so the pics will not be up till later....this week. sorry for lagging. as for defroster,
i am still waiting for the defroster button (in '02 model) from honda. it costs about
$45. i already got the sub wiring harness for the defroster ($40 from honda) and i need to hook up
the wires, i am sure the defroster will work once i get everything together.
my rear view is so much clear now. at first, i thought the rear view is about the same considering
the '02 glass window is smaller than the '00-'01 plastic window but the view is more clear than
before as my window is all clear. it makes driving safer for me and easier for me to make lane changes.

hey, what does the sub wiring harness connect to? does it connect into the switch or the rear glass window? or does it connect both? i was told that you needed the main wiring harness for the entire dash, do you have the part number? thanks

It does not connect to the switch. The switch has the pin out so what I am going to try to do is
to make myself some wires from the button and hook the wires to the sub wiring harness, it should
not be hard as there is only 2-3 wires. The '02 model, it is the whole main interior harness, it'd be
too much trouble to swap out the whole main harness and plus the main harness will probably cost an arm and a leg.
Here's a pic of the soft top on the '02 model:
#1 is the sub harness

This is excellent news , as it has been said before the plastic rear window is the only thing that really spoils our car, I was just wondering if this retro fit could be done by just replacing the rear window with the new glass one, and buying the springs from Honda to create the kit
